In two days? That's pretty impressive to me.

Stalled?

So 98.7% of his promises have fallen away on the road to fame and power? Sounds like change we can believe in.

They do - click on the links (kept, stalled, etc.) and it'll bring up the only that category.

Just a quick browse..

Congress actually passed this before Obama was elected.

The measure, which will take effect in 2011, is intended to stop underreporting of capital gains taxes. It was passed with the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, which the Senate passed on Oct. 1, 2008. The House passedit on Oct. 3, and President Bush signed it into law the same day.

Even though it happened before he took office, we're going to give him credit for it. He promised it, and it is now the law of the land. Promise kept.

So..he takes credit for a Bush dealio?...ahahahahaha. Okay, I like these ground rules. I bet he can take credit for stars twinkling too.

Somebody submitted this last week, and I bookmarked it. A really cool find. I would be curious to know if anyone tracked anything like this for Bush's 2000 campaign promises.

Did it say that he's taking credit, or that they are giving him credit?

Taking and giving are two different things.

pixistick 2009-01-23 10:34:32 AM
GaryPDX: So..he takes credit for a Bush dealio?..

He didn't take credit for anything. They gave his promise as kept because it became true. I don't agree with that, but you can't really say he broke his promise. Best you could give is N/A

How "independent" that your "quick browse" drew you to this, as opposed to the promises he has kept in only two days on the job. It's nice to see you giving our new President's performance an "independent," objective look.

I know! It's been 2 whole days, what the hell?!

Can't believe I voted for this empty suit. Rush was right about him.

I'll bet McCain would have gotten sooo much more done by now. Between naps, I mean.

I Said [TotalFark] 2009-01-23 10:44:35 AM
Did they have one of these for W? Is there a way to quickly see a comparison?

I have to say though, even given my high expectations for him as President, this is impressive.

He also undid Bush's policies on torture, GITMO, abortion funding, and corruption.

Lazy yet attractive and successful....

Well, there were only 6 green ones. I mean, to take credit for something, you really should own it in the first place. That's basic and easy to notice.

yes, senator bush was, as we all know, a compelling advocate for making people pay capital gains taxes.

It's also basic and easy to notice when you dodge every comment pointing out the sheer idiocy of your Boobies and you latch onto the only one you can manage a comeback for.

Okay guys...this is a website doing Obamawhargarble!!. This isn't Obama coming on TV taking credit for this. I'm just pointing out that just like before, he who sits in the chair takes responsibility, for good or ill.

Difficulty: You have to scroll thru 26 pages to see all the promises and if they were kept. Further difficulty: Some he had nothing to do with, such as one on the first page that reads:

Require taxpayers to report more detail on capital gains taxes

Congress actually passed this before Obama was elected.

No, it's as sad, tired, pathetic, unfunny, self-indulgent, petty, and fatuous as it was a year ago.

You used to be cool, man. Now you're just a whiny attention whore. You've become the new danlpoon.

filth [TotalFark] 2009-01-23 11:11:43 AM
I can't remember the publication, but someone kept track of this stuff with Clinton. He did reasonably well during the first year, but then the change in Congress totally derailed him. Anyway, when he starts having trouble, make sure you don't blame him for developments that only Congress can control.

And I say this as someone who doesn't really wish him success with his legislative agenda. I just want to be fair.

Citation needed. Yes, I recall the thousands of instances during Bush's reign that you valiantly stood counter to the other "Fark Independents" in harsh criticism of yourtheir President.

Pretty cool site.

It's early on, obviously, but so far I've been quite happy with Obama's decisions, especially the Gitmo prison closing within a year.

Hope he keeps it up.

I'm actually kind of surprised he's done anything at all this early.

Bush was probably packing his cowboy hat and heading down to Crawford, TX for the first weekend of his presidency.

Clinton was probably going through a large stack of intern applications trying to stack it with hot, husky chicks.
