(WBBM) Unlikely No, really it's just a coincidence that we have released the "Sasha" and "Malia" Beany Babies at the crescendo of Obamamania. But, pretty good timing, eh? (w/cute as a button pics)   (wbbm780.com) divider line 116

Given that one of the dolls is called "Sweet Sasha," I'm surprised this wasn't greened with a 'To Catch a Predator' headline.

/What was wrong with just using the girls' names only?

Edsel 2009-01-22 10:01:16 AM
I'm expecting this will incite a LOT of butthurt as little girls who live in Republican households will be asking their parents to buy them the dolls.

What does Subby have against making money? Should they have released them the day after Katrina II and aired the first commercial during the broadcast of Obama giving Pelosi birthday cake while a city drowns?

In other news, they have "real doll hair". Ooookay . . .

That's either dumb (because any hair on a doll is "real doll hair" or sick (when did they start using Real Doll hair on Beanie Babies??).

/poor turns of phrase FTL

didn't one of the other presidents have young kids when he took office?

If so, how'd the kids wind up?

We can then track how the daughters Obama compare.

My officemates are still talking about that dreadful poem that Yale idiot gave after Obama's speech.

Apparently we were all laughing at her, even the libs. To be honest, I felt a little embarassed for the Obamanation.

Outside of your usual trolling, I sadly have to agree that the poem was horrible. Little to no rhythm and completely random silly imagery.

It was terrible.

See, I think the poem might have been alright, not much better than a freshman poetry class, but not HORRIBLE, if it wasn't read by William Shatner.

wouldn't that be a change of pace for the modern media, giving a public figure privacy.

I'd like to see that happen, the kids really don't need to be warped because of what their dad does.

An ironworker

I work with several performance poetry organizations in Chicago, and we have an uphill battle to fight to convince people that poetry can be engaging and relevant. And then Elizabeth Alexander shows up and sets us back 20 years.

I loved the bit The Daily Show did about it. Showed everyone freaking out and loving Obama's speech, and then immediately clearing out as the poem was being read. Joked about how it was the government's way of dispersing the crowd in a timely manner.

All joking aside, though, it worked.

It's just a missed opportunity, though, for the arts in general.
