Half of America has a cult obsession with The Messiah, why should the British be any different.

The vulgar evangelist, Mrs. Melrose Ape, proudly revealed that her angels were no more than underage adornments on sale to the highest bidder. Meanwhile, tears coursing down her face, the honorable Agatha, whose repulsive liason with the Prime Minister shocked the nation this week, bewailed her, quote: "Ruined, bogus, vapid, bogus, and worthless life," unquote. (Yes, two boguses.)

Lady Maitland, shrieking of her terrible dependence upon cocaine powder, threw off her Schiaparelli ball gown and stood naked upon the dance floor, an example quickly followed by old and young alike until only the servants remained clothed. And grotesquely hairy Archie Schwert, swinging naked from the chandelier, screamed that all his money derived from prostitution and the opium trade. Lady Maitland's son Miles howled and howled and confessed to an intimate beastliness involving five guardsmen of the royal household, two marines, and a brick layer from Hattersfield. Nina Blount... Nina Blount grasped her stomach, screamed she was a whore, and misquoted several lines of Lady MacBeth whilst Adam Fenwick-Symes cried on heaven to bear witness to his talentless penury and hopeless illiteracy.

Never, never, never have such scenes been witnessed in high society, that uneasy alliance between Bright Young Things and Old Survivors. Perhaps this was the defining moment of our epoch of speed and syncopation. This so-called 20th century of angst, neurosis and panic.

Reader be glad that you have nothing to do with this world. Its glamour is a delusion, its speed a snare, its music a scream of fear. Faster and faster they swirl, sickening themselves with every turn. The faster the ride, the greater the nausea, the terror, and the shame.

Yea that didn't take long, but when I read "magic" word, I just assumed it was Negro.

Brown hiding behind Obama doesn't change the fact that he's blown enough taxpayers' money to fund the third world war.

Sadly, British voters appear to either not know or not mind (or, being mostly English, perhaps they enjoy getting it from that direction).

Torches and pitchforks time for Gordo.

I think he's just glad he doesn't have to work with Bush anymore. Given the choice of being associated with Bush or Obama I'm sure he'd much rather choose Obama. Blair was politically destroyed because of his relationship with Bush.

Seriously. The last thing we need is inspirational leadership. Things like family values, loving relationships, etc, should be fuel for berating rhetoric and misguided legislation, not encouraged by example.

Also, Bush doesn't seem like the kind of guy you could listen to for long without wanting to reach across and smack him.

Well, good on you sir, and don't talk to me about infirmity! Why sir, you are the hardy stock that is the core of Britain's greatness, you have the physique of a demigod, purple of cheek, plump of fetlock, the shapely ankle and the well filled trousers: the tells of a human body in perfect working order!

I do like how Bush was anointed by God, and would be our saviour and messiah. Therefore he should be followed and cheered on as the leader of God's chosen country.

But now Obama in charge he is the evil messiah, anti-christ figure and having respect for the guy is the same thing as false worship and will see the downfall of the country.

Or it could be that some people are political hacks who really need to get a life.

Yeah, but when they like your guy, it's appropriate. When the people like the other guy, it's mystical.

Stay mystified, guys, please never figure out where you went wrong. "Ha ha, Obama is popular, he's like a celebrity, amirite"

great, another president for our prime minister to act like a spineless lapdog for.

What has our 'special' relationship got us?

Made us a huge terrorism target
Made us most exposed to the recession because of our close ties and the fact that US companies will lose jobs in the UK rather than lose them in the US.
Gotten us a 1 way extradition treaty that the US didn't sign yet we still obey
Most importantly, has killed our Eurovision chances!

A few things. Since this 'new' round of terrorism you're blaming on the US [since 2001], there has been one successful attack on British soil [7/7]- which blows, to say the least. However, doesn't this pale in comparison to your trouble with the IRA? It's like you have the one 7/7 incident, a false alarm that caused your police to murder some electrician, and then decades of the IRA. If you're so cut up about this terrorism that America has wrought, then you must be bed-ridden with the grief of the IRA.

Second, we're losing jobs on both sides of the pond. I'm also soooo sorry that you enjoyed the benefits of our trade relations when our economy was up. Companies have satellite offices that are closing, what did you expect? They would cut all HQ staff to keep secondary offices open? It turns out they're doing both.

Third, yeah, that was a sucker move. We don't ship Americans off to rot in foreign prisons. No backsies.

Now that I've looked up Eurovision, jesus christ, you guys have a lot of free time, don't you.

1 successful but several failed attempts (some with more FAIL than others), we're a big target that has been tried many times. The Demenzies case was notable in the UK because of how rare it is for people to be shot by police in the UK.

We had the IRA during the troubles and we were pretty damn glad not to have to worry about bombs anymore after a long painful negotiation period. Then the war on terror comes along and we've got to worry about bombs indefinately now.

We didn't get too much benefit from the 'good times'. The Blair/Brown government pumped money into the NHS with minimal benefit (most of it went on pay rises and middle management), removed all our manufacturing and replaced it with service based industries and international banks. Just one more thing to dislike Labour for.

That is the general thrust of the G8's economic moves, supposedly we're all so advanced in the first world that we'll just ship all manufacturing down the river while you do the big brain work of investing. It has its flaws, obviously since we're farked now, but Barclays was all too happy to collect the checks when times were good. So maybe the "you" that enjoyed the good times was a much richer you and not actually you. Don't knock pay raises to the NHS, either, it keeps them from accidentally amputating the wrong leg.

I'm not certain who the lapdog was in the "special relationship." Which country drew the boarders after WWI? Who is cleaning up whose mess?
