I can't change the channel fast enough when "That's not my name" starts playing.

It's called Ner ner nee ner ner music. It's written by idiots, for idiots. And it can't be reasoned with. It won't stop. Ever.

The what the the who now?

Oh, and the link doesn't go anywhere because someone must have pasted it twice during submission.

Nice to see the admins actually, you know, click on links before
greenlighting them.

As a public service, here is the actual link. (new window)

Opening act is The The.

Headliners are Duran Duran.

SubBass49 2009-01-20 12:16:25 AM
Wow.

I personally choose to boycott any performance by a band with "the" in their name that came to fruition since the 1970s...no matter how many hipster asshats tell me they're really good.

That is a very rational way to judge music.

I like your name in your profile.

Transpogue 2009-01-20 12:42:57 AM
Cute n' quirky boy drummer with product in his hair and chin scruff?

Check

Cute n' quirky blonde chick who stomps around like she's a glam punk?

Check.

Endlessly repetitive songs that invade your brain like syphilis?

Oh you better believe that's a check.

Shut up, and let them go.

/can't stand that song

Eh. "That's Not My Name" is pretty catchy. Other than that, I don't really see too much in these two.

Captain_Creampuff 2009-01-20 02:05:59 AM
that "That's not my name" song reminds me of that "hey mickey you're so fine" song

Dissenting minority here, I like a few of their songs. Particularly "Great DJ".

/Muse is better
//Wish they'd tour around here

ting tings = worst band of 2008

an excerpt of my review of 'shut up and let me go'...

Lyrically and tonally, listening to White's vocals is like overhearing a British cheerleader argue with her boyfriend on her cell phone. You can almost hear the smacking of gum between each line.

While De Martino insists "most of the album was recorded right next to a building site and every day there were like pneumatic drills and cranes, especially when Katie was doing her vocals," I stand by my assessment that her performance would still have left me with a headache, even if the drills hadn't been in there.

and just wait until part two of 'the worst 20 songs of 2008 comes out next week'. guess who makes the top 10 twice....

Saying things like "I really like the Ting Tings, I wish they would tour around here" is like saying "I really like David Seville and that Witch Doctor song, I wish he would tour around here" in 1967.

There is simply nowhere for this annoying novelty act to go from here. It's a gimmick.... maybe you like it, if so, great for you, enjoy it while it lasts, but really, could you ever possibly imagine yourself in a year or 2 thinking you couldn't wait for the next Ting Tings album? Could you possibly imagine putting that song on your iPod 12 to 16 months from now? It has the staying power of Joe the Plumber.

well at least the singer is hot

You know, I was wondering where all the Debbie Downers went today. Tell me again how music shouldn't be fun.

nutmilk 2009-01-20 10:43:23 AM

both times even fans were meh.

Nope, I disagree - I loved the album (except for Traffic Light). It isn't supposed to change the world but it is fun for what it is.

"Great DJ" is still their best

Hey, at least as an encore, David Seville might play the Chimpmunk Song ("Christmas Don't Be Late"). The Ting Tings would just play some other song that rips off Blondie or Toni Basil or some other '80s reject -- look out, Juice Newton!

My 4-year-old and I love them on Noggin.

Good job, subby, it's a spring tour.

/wonders how long The Ting Tings can keep touring on the success of three-four great pop songs and nothing else at all

Actually, was referring to Muse when I said "wish they'd tour here".

I don't go to too many concerts. But I'd kill people for Muse tickets.

I was just turning the radio dial and came across Republica's "Ready To Go", and mused that once a generation, we are cursed with a snotty sounding British chick singing forgettable pop music. Why is this?
