Okay, I need a reality check.

Unicycles have always been something for clowns, right? They can't seriously be meant for transport.

...made me think of this:

Undignified Ways To Die
a poem by Paul Gilmartin

Skin-diving with tanks you stole from a dentist.
Renting a basement apartment in Venice.

Wearing clown shoes while walking thru a mine-field at night.
Getting a life-size tattoo of someone your height.

Mistaking a python for your favorite tie.
Hang gliding at night on the Fourth of July.

Having a bowling ball dropped on your head.
Mooning some cannibals that haven't been fed.

Teasing some Scots for wearing their kilts.
Approaching a chopper while walking on stilts.

Swimming with sharks in a suit made of meat.
Flashing yourself to a hippo in heat.

Slapping the head of a bald drunken sailor.
And telling your date's burly dad, "5 bucks says I nail her."

andrewe: Best headline ever.

Speaking as a unicyclist, it's actually really hard to not land straight up and down when falling off a unicycle.

You are standing up already, the unicycle pops away from you and you fall about 6-8 inches to the ground. It's the unicycle you have to worry about.

Once, when I was learning, the unicycle slipped out and skidded 15 feet and hit a parked BMW on the bumper. I was totally fine. The only time I have ever fallen out of control was when I was unicycling hammered, on wet leaves, in the rain. And I am not coordinated at all.

That's not the part of the landing that concerns me; it's the testicle-destroying forces involved if the seat hits the wrong spot on the way down.
