FTFA comments:

Just goes to show, be careful what you wish for. Quit griping and praying about the cold people...you've got the whole world worried about global warming when it was you who chose to live in the Arctic. And before you say I'm nuts for suggesting it's a spiritual thing, let me ask you...Isn't everything spiritual? In your hearts you know.

Sarah? Sarah Palin? Is that you?

Or is Alaska just full of nutjobs?

Well, I guess that showed me! A heat wave in Alaska in January is the final proof.

The warm temperatures came on the heels of one of the longest cold snaps to hit Fairbanks in decades, during which the temperature never rose above 20 below for 16 straight days from Dec. 27 to Jan. 11. The low temperature was 40 below or colder on 14 of those days.

Really farked-up weather means nothing, nothing at all. Move along now.

Yeah while the entire rest of the continental US is freezing our asses off. I would welcome some record highs about now.

10 USC 311 - nice name, and with a minor thread jack, you do realize how silly that law is right? 17 year olds are in the militia but banned from having weapons. :P

For those of us who live in AK,this weather ain't no walk in the park. Went from two weeks of sub zero (very unusual where I live) to 50 degrees and non stop rain, Hurricane force winds and now it is almost back to freezing rain. Roads are lots of fun, moose are confused and we have the same stupid drivers as the lower 48. I want snow. My driveway is a solid sheet of ice with a nice layer of water on top.

People in AK who biatch about the cold need to move to Alabama.

/I love it here.

The earth is slowly tilting into the sun. And will be for the foreseeable future (about 10,000 years). The arctic circle is moving north at about 75 feet/day. And nobody is reporting that.
Why?
Crazy weather? Get used to it.

No, now she's an expert on global warming and an meteorologist.

If the Earth were tilting into the Sun, the arctic circle would be moving south. Maybe that's why they're not reporting it; they did some basic fact-checking.

Also 75 feet/day is not "slow"; that means it would take a about 70 days to move a mile, and only 13 years to move a degree of latitude.

Between the burned out old hippies and the fundy churchies, this place is jam-packed with weirdos. It scares me that I'm one of the saner people here.

...because it's literally impossible for the arctic circle to move North?
