Bah. You can't even begin reading the article before "Town Hall" tries to sign you up for a subscription with a pop-up ad.

Looks like you all gave up before finishing the article. This summary at the end of the article works nice.

"The reality is Franken's desperate ploy to get himself seated on the basis of Canvassing Board numbers Minnesota law, the Supreme Court, the Canvassing Board and even Franken's campaign acknowledge to be inaccurate indicate Franken's realization that his high water mark has come and gone. Reality is setting in, and the facts will show that Norm Coleman will, in due time, be seated as Minnesota's United States Senator."

Sorry, I have a soft spot in my heart for Paul Wellstone. He was a light in the Senate when it was the darkest, and then POOF he was gone, and all knew it was foul play and no one was there to stand up for us all.

I apologize for my anger, and let's wish us all the best.

God knows we'll need it.

The fact that the guy writing the article is the Chair of the Republican Party of Minnesota means that there is no bias to this article. None. Not a single drop. Nope. No hint of it here.

Hav a nutter cupa coffee eh: his summary at the end of the article works nice.

Nice.

But fact free.

So far, all of Coleman's challenges have been poorly thought-out jokes that have been laughed out of court. The majority-Republican canvassing board stands by the tally, and the Secretary of State has certified the election.

The author of TFA is a political hack, and he is whistling past the graveyard. Coleman is trying to discredit the recount process, which has been the most open and carefully, bipartisanly observed ever.

Not that Norm is likely to make out well in a recount, what with the incipient FBI investigation...

The great irony in all this is that the Democrats would be better if Franken didn't win. He will immediately become a lightning rod and terrific fund raising tool for the Republicans.

So why didn't they just hold a run off election? Seems the cost and time savings would have been significant compared to this bs.

There are rules to how elections are run in every state... Minnesota does a detailed recount if its too close. But no state in the union does a run off because the election is close, not even if it is tied. The only reason why run offs happen in any state is because that state requires that the winner wins by a majority instead of a plurality.

I knew nothing of the "Townhall" before I read this article. Or, I mean tried to read it, I couldn't get past the first paragraph.

All I could think after that was 'bizzaro world'.

Seriously, some people are publicly drinking the cool-aid, and are writing articles about it.shiat man, I know some need delusions to sleep at night, but to make them public, without being drunk... I don't know what they are telling themselves.

wow, I know they said the GOP would be out in the wilderness trying to find itself again, but this is a god damned Peruvian rain forest.

Thank god for them "purifying" the party. It's just turning more and more people away, and giving democrats an easier time winning over their moderate colleagues. Maybe now something will finally get done in congress.

I hate that analogy. A lightning rod is supposed to draw lightning so that it won't strike somewhere else and do damage. In that regard, Al Franken as a lightning rod is a good thing.
