Nice troll attempt.

People drink, get over it. It's one of dozens of habits I don't understand, but it's clear that people just don't want to give up getting trashed. Even religions can't stop them, as evidenced by the millions of Mormon, Southern Baptist and Muslim drinkers. Let them do what they want, and when they screw up, make them pay the consequences accordingly. Maybe they'll learn from their experiences and be better for it.

Burns the old mucous membranes though, don't it?

Best to stick with drinking mouthwash.

Pants undone... either he was getting comfortable after a meal, or he was driving erratically because he was yanky his cranky.

He must have hit more than pavement. Looks like there may have been brambles or gravel there, maybe a shoe or nightstick. Or maybe he fell on his own flailing keys. Ouch.

GomezAdams [recently expired TotalFark] 2009-01-18 04:18:56 AM
FTFA: He went to the University of Oklahoma and worked at stations in Oklahoma, Texas, Minnesota and then Tampa Bay.

There ain't no city called Tampa Bay. That's the name of a body of water and the name of the metro area. You don't work in Tampa Bay unless you are a fisherman. You can however work in the Tampa Bay area, or in Tampa. Or in Clearwater, St Petersburg, Sarasota, and in any number of little burgs in the three counties referred to collectively as Tampa Bay.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers play in Tampa and the Tampa Bay Rays play in St Petersburg. The Tampa Bay Lightning play in Tampa - at the St Pete Times' Forum.

YAY, let's report partial commentary in hopes of sparking mass speculation and outrage!

If the Anchorman resisted the takedown, there may have been a lot of downforce. He may have also beaten the guy for being a pain in the ass, or he got him down and the guy continued to fight, so he put his face in the pavement resulting in even more scraping.

We don't know, and we won't know, but hey, let's get outraged! Where are my white people at, lets go start some riots.

FTA: according to his biography on the Fox Web site. He originally wanted to be an actor or singer, but then realized he couldn't make a living doing it, so he went into broadcast journalism.

Your acting job (or should we call it a COPS audition?) went quite well tonight. Maybe you should reconsider after the TV station cans your ass on Monday.

You know what grinds my gears? People who think all cops are bad. There is hints that the police beat this guy hard. I agree with DeathByGeekSquad , we don't know the whole story.

Something that was taught to us while I was in the service was to mind your P's and Q's. This is because that when you fark up it isn't "20 yr old male" caught doing something wrong, it is almost always "a Marine was caught..." It is the same with the police. Are there some bad cops out there? Yes there is. But many are just out trying to help people. The same people that are part of these "cop watches".

/end rant

It's the that will never happen to me syndrome and the seeing other people in worse situations makes me feel better about my drinking syndrome that keep the booze flowing.

DPoem 2009-01-18 06:55:31 AM
Not to get all CSI:Grissom on you, but his injuries are pretty consistent with someone who was too drunk to catch himself when he fell to the ground. Plus, they're all on one side of his face, and that doesn't really support the idea of cops wailing on him.

/Unless, of course, those cops were smart.

Not sure how they're going to charge him with DUI. He wasn't on a public street when they stopped him, it says he was in a parking lot (or garage). Private property- which means they can't charge him any kind of moving violation. Just like they can do accident write-ups on private property but can't issue tickets, assign fault, etc. The DUI will get/should be thrown out, if he has a competent attorney. A technicality to be sure, but a correct one.

Kurmudgeon 2009-01-18 09:12:22 AM
Hey, cops are just too wound up today. I saw where a cop had a guy pulled over yesterday. I thought he was stretching then I realized he was pointing me to move over to the left lane. He was freaking and cursing because I didn't have instant obedience. Now I'm an old fart, I was a good 20 plus car lengths away when I did make the lane change and I wonder what he would have done if I had been in a group of vehicles and unable to move to my left. I was just cruising along in the truck 5mph or so below the speed limit, not even in a hurry.
Would I have gotten a beat down too?
The whole situation was just so bizarre.
BTW, any of you folks driving along Rt 33 anywhere near Buckhannon WV, it's a speed trap and if the cop I saw yesterday is any example, the Upshur Co Sheriff's Department is wrapped way too tight.

He did a story on the "Science of Happiness" on this news segment posted on YouTube (new window).

Perhaps he was just trying to test the "science of happiness" via a bottle of scotch and a gay hooker.
