what a load of crock. some people just can't let it go. you lost. get over it. quit trying to poop on someone else's parade.
most of the "concerns" the author notes are pure drivel propagated by the right wing noise machine. stuff that even the people saying it don't really believe. they are just doing their right wing duty to spread misinformation

Y'know....I don't particularly like Obama. I think several of his ideas are completely wrong, and I think he's made a couple bad picks for his staff...but you know what? Despite that, he's still a better guy than McCain. Sure, Bob Barr or Ron Paul would have been the optimal choices for the job of US President but if the choice was between McCain or Obama then I can settle for Obama. I mean yeah, I think Obama is going the wrong direction but at least he's going the wrong direction based on an honest belief in his principals. McCain dosen't have an honest bone in his body. If he'd been elected I could never be sure he was telling me the truth about anything. Obama, at least, won't lie to us. Or I don't think he will anyway.

Hey, I'm a small town white folk! Donated for the first time ever this season (to Obama). And the only persons I know (uncle and aunt) who believe all the ape-shiat-crazy Obama rumors (not American, Muslim, "pals around with terrorists") are my aunt and uncle, both wealthy big-city folk with advanced degrees.

So, let's not take our stereotypes too seriously.

madmann [TotalFark] 2009-01-17 01:24:04 PM
FTFA:

Ellison, for example, said she will tape the inauguration and watch it with her son, Jacob, 11, but only because he has to write a paper on it for his fifth-grade class.

And when she does watch, she knows what she will be looking for: Will Obama use his middle name, Hussein, as he takes the oath of office? Will he put his hand on the Lincoln Bible? Obama already said he plans to do both.

Still, Ellison -- and others who voted against Obama -- said deep respect and loyalty are owed to the president, no matter who it is.

She recalled saying as much to her son when John McCain lost the election.

"When Obama won," Ellison said, "he's like, 'Well, we're left out in the cold, Mama.' I said, 'No, no, no.' Just because your candidate did not win, it doesn't mean you don't stand behind your president."

Ok, one of two things going on here.

(A), you're full of shiat, you're sticking things in your 11-year-old's mouth that he never said because you think it illustrates your point.

or

(B), you had already managed to convince this 11-year-old that the opposition candidate represents NONE of your values. Children get their politics from their parents. If they see the world in black & white like that, it's because that's what they see from you.

There are people who actually refuse to learn. They let an ideology take over their thinking and reject truthful information on purpose. People are like water that way: path of least resistance.

And they tend to reproduce like cockroaches.

Interesting how Liberals want to go to court when they lose, while Conservatives go to church and pray that God will guide our leaders.

Umm, does the name Norm Coleman ring any bells?

Liberals, as a rule, are not only dumber than the average Conservative, they're much more rude to boot.

1/17/2009 8:13:20 AM

Generalize much? I seem not to have heard of this rule, as I come from a family of 7, am the most educated (MBA), and by FAR the most liberal of the other 6 militant right-wingers in my family.

Which is impressive given that in five minutes you will complain that university educated intellectual elitist liberals are ruining the country.

Though I imagine that sort of stuff doesn't cause you as much bother since you trepanned yourself.

Wait til they see the exit polls showing the more educated voters went to Obama in large numbers.

After that is when the intellectual elitists will be ruining the country. You have to let him repeat the "if you're 40 and not a conservative, you don't have a brain" line that somehow validates the thinking.

On NPR yesterday there was an interview with someone regarding Obama's economics reforms, and the interviewee was genuinely shocked about how Obama was going about listening to people. "He's really taking a fact based approach to this whole thing, what works, what doesn't work. He's really listening."

That such a thing should be a surprise is saddening. That the guy I voted for because I hoped he would do such a thing, is doing such a thing, is very enjoyable.

That this is such a welcome surprise says a great deal about how the President and his Administration have made policy, and shaped Washington in their terms. Give them credit, they certainly did "Change the Tone" in Washington.

I know of lot of folks around here are scared. Loading up on ammo, food. There was a thread in the local paper about what's going to happen and of course someone said that he'll swear on the Quran, he'll abolish our present system of government, he'll ban guns as well as the armed forces and is looking at banning Christianity. My fave was how the south WILL rise again since only in the south do people know how to fend for themselves, ya know, like being able to set a trotline or skin wild game.

I do with the hero worship of Obama would stop.

Does any one else find it very ironic that Debbie Ellison claims to have heard rumors about Obama being sworn in on the Quran and weary of the use of his middle name when she has the same last name as Minnesota representative Keith Ellison, the only Muslim representative in the House and he was sworn in on the Quran?

If names can dictate someone's religion, doesn't that make her a Muslim?

I do believe that a lot of people are going to be disappointed in Obama. People are not sure that his economic policies will work, a lot of people disagree with at least portions of his social policies, and he is a Democrat AND black. That doesn't make Obama wrong, or right for that matter, it means that when he does not live up to a falsely high mark that no one could live up to some people will be disappointed, and very vocal.

I have friends in Europe who state that Obama would be right winged in most Western European governments, but to listen to some here, he makes Hugo Chavez look moderate. A commie pinko (hey folk, look up Acts 2:44-2:25 in the bible) who will destroy America.

For those of you too lazy to look up the bible passage:

All that believed were together, and had all things in common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
(Acts 2:44-45). Good ol' Marx wasn't the first 'communist', and if you look at the history of early America you will find many communes and brotherhoods founded on these ideals (commonly called Utopian Societies Link (new window) )

Puritan Capitalist were not the only ones who came to America, or who influenced its' development

/After the preceding 8 years, I will give his policies a fair chance before clamoring for Obamas' head.

Welcome to Indiana. It's pretty dim here. I just moved to Indy and the residents remind me of the "peasant-citizens" that sprung up in Eastern Europe in the 1950s. Basically rural folk who move into a city and maintain their country lifestyle in an urban environment.
