Hey! What's with the quotes around "winter"? It's cold here. I almost couldn't wear shorts and go down to my mailbox in bare feet today.

Almost.

Although I did not know that, you could have said "toddlers are falling from trees" and I still would have just facepalmed and said "farking florida"

I call shenanigans. Everybody knows that iguanas grow on bushes.

I own an iguana so I'm getting a kick.

/wild iguanas aren't nice once they're warmed up, anyone trying to 'save' them will be tail-whipped into submission

That's the beauty of the thing, come winter the gorillas iguanas will freeze to death

Usually the trees around here produce oranges, but iguanas are pretty cool, too.

I was in Boca Raton about six weeks ago and we were catching them and eating them. Really not all that bad and damned easy to catch.
Just run up on 'em real quick and step on their heads or grab them down from a tree by the tail and smack 'em against the side-walk. You don't even need to use a weapon.

Hey, I'm not a native Floridian, so I know cold when I feel it, subby. It was in the twenties the other day (not counting windchill) here in Jax and I even caught a whiff of snow on the air. Frost on the palm trees, etc. I had to dress in layers for the first time since I moved down here! I'd much rather be all "brr it's cold I need a blanket" than "omg it's so humid I can't breathe cough cough hack."

First of all, we are on two different sides of the state. Boca Grande is on the west coast near Port Charlotte. Boca Raton is on the east coast and full of Jews. I should know, my bubbe lives there. There is not a Jew in sight on Boca Grande
Secondly.....that's just gross. Thanks for the image.

Yeah, Jews are a lot harder to grab by the tail than iguanas. But since they don't eat iguanas there are plenty around. Iguanas that is.

I was never suggesting that Boca Grande and Boca Raton were near each other, just relating my iguana story.

(To the tune of "Chestnuts roasting by an open fire")

Orange groves roasting by some open fires
Iguanas falling from the trees
Easter carols being sung by Mall choirs
New Yorkers dressed up like Eskimos

Everybody knows some turkey and a stupid 'ho'
Help to make the season bright
Tiny twits with their eyes all aglow
Will find it hard to sleep tonight

...

And so I'm offering this simple phrase
For kids from one to ninety two
Although its been said many times many ways
Happy Caturday to you!

Yeah, but the pythons pretty much ignore the iguanas and go for the cats and small yappy dogs (not that there's anything wrong with that). Still waiting on the shipment of gorillas.

LOL, at 8AM it was -17F at my house(NW chicago) with -38F windchill yesterday when i started my walk to work and we are just getting to what i refer to as 'glove weather'

/it was -56F (air temp, not windchill) in the western territories (canada) a few days ago... so apparently it was 'tropical' here.

I remember when I was working in Miami and where I was staying these green lizard things were running up the walls. I went to complain to management and they politely told me that those things keep the rats, roaches, and snakes away. They run out the building when they get spotted by humans. It took some time to get used to it but after a while.

Good times in Miami

Does anyone have a video or pictures? I'd like to see it rain iguanas.

... I'm also from Florida. My parents had one iguana come around and we thought it was very cute. So we regularly left food out for the fella. Two years later, large tour groups of iguanas still come by and leave many craps on my parents lawn.

Some days it truly feels that way. It can go from 108F* in July/August to -21F** (when i was still in elementary school) in Jan/February.

Its quite a city to observe through the seasons.

Dying and choking down athletic events. But that's for another board.

A couple mornings ago here in Iowa we had a record low of -38 F NOT counting windchill. And I had classes that morning. It felt like like my throat was starting freeze definatly not comfortable.

On topic I never knew iguanas shut off. I had an Aunt who lived on Satellite beach and when I was younger I would chase them all over her backyard. I should try the foot on head technique next time :)

New York iguanas must be tougher than the Florida ones. It's 11° F here and I don't see any of our's falling. The Florida iguanas should wear gray fur coats.
