Trajan's Call'Em [TotalFark] 2009-01-17 09:21:17 AM
Are you farking kidding me? GWB is the worst asshat president out of all 43 we've had. Calling him a hero is like calling me a.... well, think of something good to call me, and it's that much B.S. Looking forward to Tuesday.

Tuesday cannot come soon enough. Just reading those quotes makes me want to punch a puppy.

Such bravery - avoiding military service during his youth - then bravely sending hundreds of thousands of servicemen & women into a pointless war based on lies and bulsh*t!

allow me to play the devils' advocate here.
He is a hero , maybe a national hero. He had a plan, if the congress allowed him a free hand, he would have been successful. However, our politicians, Mr Bush excepted ofcourse, have no balls. They do what looks good short term and do not think like Mr Bush did about the long term consequences of their actions. When Mr Bush wanted to go after Osama they at first gave him a green light (much like this article), however when Osama feld to Iraq to hang out with Saddam - a fact that Mr Bush, Mr Cheney, and that black guy fully acknowldged to be true - the congress always adding unwanted things to bills - told him to over throw saddam while he was there , and to install a democracy...

//where was I going with this ?

Stinky McButt 2009-01-17 10:01:35 AM
Well, that's it then. The majority of the world is made up of dumb snobs who have no idea how to judge a president. I can't believe we've been wrong all this time.

(The mind boggles when one imagines what Bill Clinton would have tried to do to beautiful, brilliant Condoleezza Rice, but making her Secretary of State wasn't one of them. Making her his secretary, ready at hand to sexually harass, more like.)

Just look at the paradise that Iraq has become and what a marvelous state he is leaving the country in.

The article seems like a long, drawn out, "he's not really a monster, so he can't be that bad" spiel.

I wonder if people write artices like this just to see if they can - like, to test their writing skills. There's really no other justification.

Here's a question - can someone name a single thing Bush accomplished in his second term? Name one thing where he said "I want to do this" and he got it done.

Is there anything of actual note?

On the slight chance that you actually believe what you just typed, I can say only this:

Do you have no memory of the six years that he never had to find his veto crayon as the Republican-dominated House and Senate gave him everything he asked for?

This weird brand of revisionism the reality-denying right-wing has been attempting lately is stunning. Stunning in that they don't seem to realize that this has been the most exhaustively documented and easily searched eight years in history.

Keep it up, I beg you. Marginalize yourselves even further. A generation or two crying in the wilderness will do all y'all a world of good.

I don't know, dude. I don't like defending that clown for anything, but I think just about anyone else would have taken that shoe off the dome. His tard senses detected danger and he snapped into action. That's pretty much all I got for the guy after 8 years. He didn't get hit with that shoe. That's it.

Doctor Funkenstein: I think just about anyone else would have taken that shoe off the dome

I would have been beaned and I probably would have done the Austin Powers quote. "Ow! That really hurt! Honestly, who throws a shoe?" You know who would have done better? RON PAUL!

He would have grabbed the shoes right out of the air and everyone would go OOOH! because they would know it's about to become epic. The guy throwing the shoes would crap his pants because he knows he's about to have his ass handed to him, but RON PAUL would simply go to him and hand him the shoe back and the guy would be all like, man he could have destroyed me but he didn't so he's all right in my book.

eddyatwork [TotalFark] 2009-01-17 11:28:26 AM
SilentStrider: once he leaves office, what further damage can he do?

He could try to microwave a hot dog at the 7-11 and blow up the microwave which could set the building on fire where it reaches the underground gas tanks causing a huge explosion which burns up a bus filled with orphans and kittens. Bet you didn't think of that did you.

Generation_D [TotalFark] 2009-01-17 11:36:01 AM
Six years of all-Republican rule, six years of abject and utter fail.

Nobody that voted for this really even gets a say for a while. You contributed to the worst presidency at least in my lifetime, if not in history.

downstairs [TotalFark] 2009-01-17 11:37:50 AM
I'm not about to call his presidency a success. However, the one thing that really bothers me is the people who supported the decision to go to war now completely denying it.

Bush had a 75% approval rating (or thereabouts)! That's pretty damn high, considering the number of people who will disagree with everything he does merely because he's Republican.

So I give Bush a lot more of a pass on Iraq. I was one of those who applauded doing something gutsy, rather than resting on silent, ineffective diplomacy. I actually thought there may be a chance that Iraq falling into democracy could help it spread through the mid-east. It didn't, the war is a failure. But I'm not going to lie and say I knew that all along.

By the way, we still have the task of calming down the mid-east. If we leave Iraq, that's all well and good. But then what? Knee-jerk Bush haters: what is YOUR plan?

darkyn [TotalFark] 2009-01-17 11:39:43 AM

Heh - definitely. RON PAUL would have pointed at the shoe as it was in mid-air and it would have stopped right there. He then would have chastised it for loafing around and not doing its job by being on someone's foot. After that, he would have put the shoe to work in a factory in Lake Jackson, Texas, making decent wages with a respectable benefits package.

and yet the people who claim they would like someone like Ron Paul for President spend all of their time and energy hating the Dems and giving Republicans yet another free pass.

It would never occur to them that their little "conservative" buddies would turn on them like rabid dogs if their candidate ever became a threat to Republican power.

I like your version too. We'll put it on the Director's Cut DVD edition.

That's because all joking aside, he was the only candidate from a major party who basically said the right wing failed. He was ignored and deliberately shut out because if people actually listened to him instead of the media, they'd have agreed with him.
