Everyone comments on the barely-audible bass, and this begs the question: Why does it need a bass track again?

Maybe that's the sound they were going for. Maybe it was in homage to Burton. I think it sounds nastier without the bass. Metallica get their groove on in the 90s - the next 3 albums have tons of bass. It's nice to hear them experiment with a different sound.

I know I'm not the first to say this but I'll say it anyway. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a joke.

No KISS
No Alice Cooper
No Rush

Is the reason their inducting Metallica because they were the first rock band to sue their fans? Because I can think of many other modern rock artists who hold a far greater understanding of their medium, starting with Megadeth, Pantera and hell, even Queens of the Stoneage.

Screw Kiss, but Alice Cooper was incredibly influential. Even Dylan was lauded his songwriting ability.

Sorry, but even the members of Metallica have admitted they treated him like shiat because of guilt they felt over replacing Cliff.

If the HoF invited member(s) who weren't welcome by the rest of the band, there's a good chance the rest of the band would simply not show up.

Therefore, it's up to the band (or at least the majority of the members who are still talking to each other) to decide who gets to accept.

Metallica isn't that bad; Van Halen and Creedence Clearwater Revival were much worse. I don't think any of the members of Pink Floyd showed up when they were inducted because the logistics were simply impossible at that point

This. Again. Alice Cooper, the band version, had some absolutely fantastic tunes. The albums "Killer" and especially "Billion Dollar Babies" alone make them/him worthy.

KISS and Alice Cooper weren't so much rock 'n roll as they were theatrics with a rock 'n roll soundtrack. I've seen them both and both times I came out of it thinking they were more like a Broadway style show instead of a concert.

I'll agree with Rush though. They should defiantly be in there.

Farking 174% THIS.

Like 'em or not, hate Geddy's voice or not, their influence on innumerable bands over the decades canNOT be denied. And they've sold a few albums here and there as well. Hell, the S&A tour was the 6th biggest of the 07-08 concert season.

As a group, Rush possesses 24 gold records and 14 platinum (3 multi-platinum) records. According to the RIAA, Rush's sales statistics place them fourth behind The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Aerosmith for the most consecutive gold or platinum albums by a rock band. Rush also ranks 78th in U.S. album sales with 25 million units.[5] Although total worldwide album sales are not calculated by any single entity, as of 2004 several industry sources estimated Rush's total worldwide album sales at over 40 million units.

This doesn't qualify them for the R&RHOF?

metallica died when they released the commercial and justice for all.

it is pretty difficult to develop the angst their music required when your a multimillionaire.

and the bass track on and justice for all is alive and well. you just need a system that can accurately reproduce the below 40hz tones.

bagb8709 2009-01-17 02:59:00 PM
KISS, RUSH, and Cooper need to be indited even though KISS will probably make the KISS Rock and Roll Hall of Fame or something like that.

It'll be interesting to see if Mustaine or Newsted show up, They may still be pissed at the other guys but they still showed up on Some Kind of Monster. Mustaine helped write a few of their songs and kind of got royally screwed when they kicked him out but for what it's worth I like Kirk a lot better. Jason really needs to be there though.

Good. Got nervous there for a second. I download music illegally & didn't want Lars stoppin' by with a Cease & Desist.

Really; I think Metallica puts out more C&Ds than CDs anymore.

Google 'And Justice For Jason'.

And Rush, come on. The only place I ever hear anyone mention Rush is Fark. I'd not know a thing about them if it weren't for this place, and I'm a music geek.

Master of Puppets got me through some tough times in college. I would get in my car, turn that shiat up, and just scream my lungs out. Probably kept me from going bezerk on some random stranger. I actually met James and Kirk during a couple of un-public moments and they were cool as hell when they didn't have to be. Say what you want about them, but back in the day they spoke to many.

Lars is a douche bag, IMHO.

Well he did write like half of Kill 'em All and a few songs off Ride the Lightning. There are rumors some of his stuff made it on to later albums too.

I have a recording of them performing with the original line-up (where they play Mechanix), Dave was great, Ron not so much.

Apparently you aren't.

Rush, much like Blue Cheer and Mountain for metal bands, are frequently listed as an influence for almost all those college alterna-bands that have been churned out by "small" labels with a "few" acts.

Also - if you're going to induct a legitimate metal band since you just entered Black Sabbath in 2006, there's only two that should, no, MUST get that honor:

/From the only albums by them that those old, fat douchebags have even heard of by them.

I seem to recall reading something from quite awhile ago where James mentioned that everyone that appeared on a released Metallica album should come up on stage if they made it into the RNRHOF. I do hope Jason can do it, that would be a pretty cool moment.

While some things may meet certain qualifications, those can be spoiled by other factors which even them out. In this case, Rush being lame.

I'm aware. However, I believe the RNRHOF is a giant pile of fail, and would be insulting Rush to accept them.

And I believe Dave Mustaine is a better musician than any other who has been Metallica.

Hetfield went into rehab and returned with St. Anger.
Mustaine went into rehab and returned with Rust In Peace.
