What if I'm sick of the government changing the weather to its advantage instead of mine?

...the devices, which predict when roads will be affected by freezing temperatures and ice.

Can no one from the council's highways department stick their head out a window, or would that be too low-tech?

CrazyCurt 2009-01-17 12:01:19 PM
Was walking to the intersection I have to cross every day to get to store when I saw a brand new sign warning of fines and red light cams. There aren't any red light cams, none at all. There are tiny devices on the semiphore poles but those are used to detect special signals from emergency vehicles to change the lights. They've been there for years. May be a new tactic, just warn folks they're being watched but not really watch them.

/ hope it works, I see red light runners, speeders and idiots that won't yield for pedestrians at crosswalks more than once a day.

Better yet....get a man sized dummy (mannequin) and hide in the brush till you see a car run the light and push the dummy into it's path...hopefully hilarity will ensue

If repairing four thermometers costs £20,000 - I suggest they come to me for some cheaper replacement ones. Mine are only £4,000 each, new.

/ And yes, I'll supply ones with wireless internet connections.

Nowhere in the article does it actually explain how they think this was a mistaken attack on speed cameras... doesn't that speak to a whole different issue if the government looks at this and just automatically assumes they really were after the red light cameras because they know how much people HATE them?

Could just as likely have been a bunch of kids who just wanted to destroy stuff

I see red-light runners,
Speeders and goobs,
They don't give a damn
If they hit me or you.
And I think to myself,
I really hate this damned road.

They go flying by
At excessive speed.
I'd like to show
Their crotch my knee.
And I think to myself,
I really hate this damned road.

I see idiots running reds,
Screaming, "hey, screw you!"
They're really saying,
Well, they're saying "hey, screw you!"

I see traffic stops,
That no one obeys.
If you have to walk there
You'll only live a few days.
And I think to myself,
Goddamn, I hate this damned road!

I think to myyyyysel---
Aw, fark, look out!

/with apologies to Louis Armstrong

Its all about global warming, they dont want the cooler temperatures to be recorded!

Its a CONSPIRACY!

Where the heck do you people live where you see redlight runners all the time? In the past 5 years I can only think of one person I saw who intentionally ran a red light (the jerk made a left turn at it).

Ironically I was hit last year by someone who unintentionally ran a red light. I fail to see how a red light camera would have prevented that accident.

Yeah well I see asshole pedestrians crossing when the blinking "don't farking walk" hand is up and even worse the people who seem to wait until you have a green to start walking across all the time.

/Bicyclists are the worst at running red lights
//Almost got killed by a taxi running a red light in dc while helping a friend move

"The attacks were believed to have happened between December 14 and January 1."

These cameras are for the highway dept to monitor weather for treating the roads in winter... No one checked the weather for 2 weeks in December? I think the real cost to taxpayers was installing these devices.

(You see, a BROKEN weather station might report erroneous values.)

What?
Nobody is going to ask Fahrenheit or Centigrade?

When I was in Memphis I lived on the same street as a cop. When the light was yellow/red he would put on his lights. Then he would pull into his house.

/watched him do it dozens of times, laughed every time.
