I'd be willing to bet that the last installment will be the shoe throwing event. It doesn't get any better than a journalist unleashing a shoe at the most powerful man in the world, and then get a second shoe off because the Secret Service had too many beers the day before.

Alternatively, the Late Show writers would use, as the very last installment, The Sneezing Monkey video as a metaphor for George Bush. That would be funny.

Sun God: and then get a second shoe off because the Secret Service had too many beers the day before.

You would have to have been Superman to have the speed and response time needed to stop that guy. He winged both of them within a second.

This is the last one?

LAME!

That was obviously a speech rehearsal, not the actual thing.

The only thing the shoe tossed proved is that GWB is a secret ninja. Reflexes like a cat..brain like a small, well something or other.

Viewing these as individual incidents over the past 8 years, I've usually given him the benefit of the doubt - i.e. he's probably tired, he's just not much of a public speaker, etc.

But when you put these all together, I think there is a strong case that he may actually have down sydrome.

I quit watching the late show because it was getting to one sided... Always bashing Bush... No political bias here...

I want to see Letterman continue the presidential moments once Obama gets in...

My prediction: This bit will die as soon as a democrat takes office and you'll never see it again...

cchris_39 2009-01-17 10:27:25 AM
How about a montage of unfunny Letterman FAIL since he lost the late night wars.

He's been mailing it in since about 1988.

/Stopped even the obligatory viewing when he joined the liberal asshat brigade.

If Obama ever sympathizes with folks having a hard time putting food on their families, I'm sure Dave will be right on top of it...

God, Letterman is awful. He took something that could have been funny and made it unfunny. I hate him. He's like that asshole who ruins jokes by telling the punchline early, and wrong, so that no one else can tell the joke ever again. Not even to other people, because now the joke teller only remembers the time that Letterman told it and destroyed the joke forever.

Nah, don't worry about them. Lots of potential in Obama, and Harry, Nancy, Joe Hairplugs, Hillary, and Barney have all shown they're more than on their way to becoming Walking Punchlines. Just this next week we have (the day after the inauguration) the prospect of talking about a guy to head the Treasury Department (and the I.R.S.!) who "mistakenly" failed to pay $34,000.00 in taxes ("What was this extra money for? Gallon of milk? Haircut? Maybe that memory improvement course whatshername was telling me about.").

I've always depended on DC to keep a smile on my face, and I have the very strong feeling the Obama administration won't let me down.

Bush was roundly and deservedly bashed for the last 8 years or so. If Obama turns out to be as bad, he'll be bashed too, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.

anonwums 2009-01-17 12:01:02 PM
I had never noticed up until now that Bush actually stutters. A couple of those times, it was clear that he knew the word he wanted to say but got hung up on it and broke the stuttering by choosing an awkward word that started with the same sound, which is a technique stutters use to get beyond their block.

Most comedians don't have political agendas. They want to make people laugh. That's how they get paid. So what if Obama just doesn't give him as much material as Bush has? Can't you guys even entertain that notion? Are you going to blame the comedian for Obama being smarter an a better speaker than Bush was?

It would seem unseemly to do so.

Watching that Montage makes me think Bush is a pretty cool guy to be around.

mattyc 2009-01-17 01:07:47 PM
wow, Letterman, you're quite late on those clips. I guess by now, I shouldn't be surprised - anyone who wants to make fun of Bush simply plays the same clips over and over and over.

how original...just follow the most public figure around and sift through all their thousands of speeches and remarks, you're bound to find a few minutes of mistakes to montage together.

/do not like Bush...glad he's done
//just don't think it's funny
///been overplayed, just like the Jonas Brothers
////who?

The difference is that with Bush, there's enough for a full feature film.

The secret service should have been able to stop the second shoe. Thats my opinion having watched the video. If it was "physically impossible" as many say, then the secret service should stand right next to the president and make "physically possible".

/not saying I could do better, but they don't hire me to be in the secret service for a reason.

hetheeme 2009-01-17 08:59:08 PM
I don't know what you guys are talking about. Perhaps you are forgetting that we have two presidents, teleprompter Obama and teleprompter-free Obama.

Seperate that man from his magical scrolling box and he bummles and stumbes enough to make Bush embarased. Now that he is president Obama will have lots of horrific statementsm

The differnce is that the media hasn't decided to make those the focus of every single thing that happens. In addition, I would love to see the media not cut out the pictures of Obama chain smoking, he should be seen how he is, warts and all, and not get special editing of his bad qualities.

For all you babies crying about political agendas, can you honestly not remember 8 years back? Remember a man named President Bill Clinton? Remember how he was the constant butt of jokes from comedians, and still is to some respect? Remember? Close your eyes and think real hard. There you go, you did it! Now use this newfound knowledge to help you stop writing stupid comments in Fark threads.
