Bob Mould thread! The last time I saw him (well, it was Husker Du) live was 22 (!) years ago at the HUB in Seattle. Man, the only bands that mattered to me back then were Husker Du and the Replacements.

/get off my lawn
//No Seattle date?!?! WTF, Bob!?

Last Tuesday, when you were asleep. Minneapolis was embarrassed and wanted to be from somewhere where the elected officials weren't quite as hilarious.

So the city packed up its shiat, and moved to illinois. It's happier there now, I hear.

/this is not a political joke, it's a politics joke
//Yay Bob Mould! I found it easier to come out because of him!

He's put out several great solo albums in the last few years. Body of Sound and District Line are both outstanding. I also love his stuff with Sugar. He's one of my all time favorite musicians.

Mould is one of my biggest musical heroes.

My band opened a gig for Sugar. I was so nervous and psyched to meet Mould that I got so drunk I don't even remember talking to him. My band mates said we had a good conversation. They may have just said that to make me feel better.

May have to fly down to see a show.

This.
No one I know has ever heard of him, which I find to be unforgivable. I mean, how many people watch The Daily Show? Do they even know he wrote Dog on Fire? I may have to see him in Chicago, or the other Illinois show in Minneapolis.

Time for a road trip. I've seen him twice, once with Husker and once solo. Good stuff.

Excellent. The Varsity is one of my favorite venues. Even if I now have to travel to Illinois to go there.

On a side note- Bouncing souls are playing soon as well. This concert season is shaping up to look like Highschool again.

as a person who was/am in show biz, I meet celebs all the time. Yawn. I have met some of the biggest names around and the only person i ever got tongue tied with was Bob. After a show here in Pittsburgh he played his butt off and was selling some stuff at the Merch table. I wanted to pop over to pick up the recent live album and he was so cool and nice-and I turned into Chris Farley.
Bob-"So what did you think? How was the techno stuff meshing with the guitar?"
me-"Uh, so its like, good...."
Bob-"Great! LIke the show?"
Me-(grinning like an idiot)
He signed it graciously and I wanted to gush about how great he was and how there isn't a moment of guitar that I play where I don't think of either Bob or Neil Young or Kevin Shields and instead and how his songs have kept me going but instead I was like that weird kid from Christmas Story ("I like the Tin Man")

The lack of trolls on this thread(hope I didn't just jinx it)gives me hope for humanity.

/listened to "Zen Arcade" earlier today and I am a better person for it.

My cousing is pretty good friends with Bob Mould. I've never met him, but apparently he's very nice and down to earth.

Finally??? When did he ever not do something right? Hüsker Dü, Sugar, his solo stuff... is somebody stretching really far for a play on words, or am I missing something?

I would kill a hobo for the guitar tone on Copper Blue.
