so they want 1999 back

ArcLight [recently expired TotalFark] 2009-01-16 05:58:04 PM
Why would MTV want anything to do with these groups? It's not like it's a music channel or anything.

White Stripes- I would go see em. I would also like to tour Meg White's tits.

They want them all to live in a fancy house?

Work together and have their lives taped... to find out what happens... when people stop being polite... and start getting real?

LeglessDog 2009-01-16 07:03:34 PM
I saw Velvet Revolver in 2007, and they rocked the fark out. That was when they had Scott, of course.

//Saw STP last year, even better.

CZMisfitsFan 2009-01-16 07:06:13 PM
Hmm, they claim Blur went on hiatus in 1999 and need to reunite. Are they forgetting Think Tank? Or was it just that bad that they pretend it never existed?

/Also, Minutes to Midnight came out in 2007, not 2006.

The world's wishlist:

1) For MTV to go away, and die and take The Hills, Parental Control, Made, etc with it.
2) World peace
3) That's pretty much it

Geddyhead 2009-01-16 08:09:46 PM
I'd like to see GNR, Velvet Revolver, and especially The White Stripes.

But screw even them, Rush better start recording again.

I can dig Blink and No Doubt, and Linkin Park even has a couple of listenable songs. However, Velvet Revolver was just abhorrent.

Miss Smartass 2009-01-16 08:36:21 PM
I enjoy Linkin Park and Blink 182...

MTV is the myspace of cable television.

I like how they lump together RATM and No Doubt together as "heavy weights." I'm sure RATM would love that.

There's still MTV?

spyderz343 2009-01-16 10:02:42 PM

Wait, MTV actually follows music? I am shocked, SHOCKED at this development!

/Apparently not since 1999.
//Damn it MTV, take a look into the indie scene.

And later on, on the drive home, I called her mom from a pay phone, I said I was the cops, and your husband's in jail, the state looks down on sodomy.

Even better when Richard Cheese performs it.

No. Please don't.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA

Jesus Christ. MTV hasn't been musically relevant in a generation, but even subby's mom is over the bands listed, and we all know how old she is.

On a more serious note, the uncool free broadcast TV networks and their lame scripted shows are breaking more bands these days than the one with MUSIC in its name. Unless you count iPod and Mitsubishi commercials, MTV hasn't been in the new music business for a very long time.

Of course, now they don't really have to since they acquired Myspace, which has turned into the de facto source of A&R research for the companies that are trying to figure out what to shove down your throats next.

Fans of music aren't looking to them for fresh sounds either... go figure

I remember a time when MTV was awesome. Good rock videos, 120 Minutes, Headbanger's Ball, Alternative Nation, Beavis and Butthead, Aeon Flux, reruns of Speed Racer at 1AM and some techno show that played on Saturday nights (the name escapes me at the moment).

What happened?

Amp, which was the visual equivalent of the graphic equalizer on your WMP.

Someone has to know the answer to this.

I'd add Yo! MTV Raps to that list too.

I don't have a clue what group or album that could possibly be.

Maybe it's a Magic Eye puzzle? I love those things!

Its the new Animal Collective album, big reviews on the old pitchfork media, not such big reviews from me...
