What is Stewart going to do starting next week?

Hang On Voltaire: What is Stewart going to do starting next week?

Same as always. I expect Obama will be more difficult to mock, but don't be so foolish to think that he won't.

Hang On Voltaire: What is Stewart going to do starting next week?

I would assume the same thing he's been doing the last few years. Mocking incompetence.

There may be less available with Bush leaving, but there is still plenty to go around.

Maybe you could troll some more about how him and Colbert will have to go off the air since they won't be able to mock the new president without exploding or something.

Neeek [TotalFark] 2009-01-16 05:47:05 PM
Hang On Voltaire: What is Stewart going to do starting next week?

I imagine he'll have to go back to working for a living, rather than coasting because the material was writing itself.

I believe one of Stewart's pleas during the 2004 campaign was, "Make my job difficult. PLEASE!"

Canadian Canuck [TotalFark] 2009-01-16 06:22:19 PM
I personally can't wait to see Tuesday's show.

Plus, as Neeek says, he'll have to actually work. However he did jab at Obama during the election season and I have no doubt that he will continue to do so.

JerseyTim [TotalFark] 2009-01-16 07:06:40 PM
I wish the Daily Show had some sort of hour-long special Bush administration retrospective. You could have played dozens of clips... Heck, you could have done it without the snarky voiceovers. You could have shown him not being able to open that door, him trying that African tribal dance thing, giving Merkle the back rub, chest-bumping, etc...

down4afall 2009-01-16 07:18:28 PM
Wait. Does this mean we have to replace John Stewart with a black guy so he can make fun of Obama without it being offensive?

Chariset [TotalFark] 2009-01-16 07:19:00 PM
He'll have all kinds of incompetence to mock. It's not like Obama will magically cause everyone in politics to become tactful, sensitive, and self-controlled.

Tenor Reaper 2009-01-16 07:24:33 PM
SORRY CANADA, YOU CAN'T SEE THIS VIDEO! I tried finding the video on the Comedy Network's site but no luck =\

Blargh.

I haven't been able to see any comedy central video in firefox 3.0 since I upgraded to Vista (but can with IE7). It just says "Get Adobe Flash Player" - which I have. Any farkers know a fix for this?

I dunno about that one. Watching Kerry head up his committee this week makes me think he would have had plenty to work with. I don't think it's W level stuff, but there's plenty of material on that guy.

If Obama doesn't provide him much material (he will, but just in case he doesn't), there's plenty of material in all the deification going on anyways. I never voted for Bush and I voted for Obama the last go around, but all the crying and rejoicing that's going on is just stupid. It's a honeymoon and he'll get his 100 days to do whatever it is that he wants to do. Then, the press will turn on him and start writing process stories about incompetence in the administration. Then the talking heads will start being more critical, then the loyal opposition will start chipping away setting up for the midterms.

It will all be the usual sorts of stupid controversy, sprinkle in some farked up exhibitions and speeches on the house and senate floor, and you've got plenty of material for TDS and Colbert to continue.

I have long rued the dumbing down of the Daily Show, but it just occurred to me that maybe it was just keeping pace with the presidency.

Flappyhead 2009-01-16 08:16:37 PM
People keep forgetting the Daily Show does more then talk politics, it was just that the Bush administration gave them so much to work with.

Yeah. I've had this problem for months. Thanks for the serious response though.

Not a bad idea. I'll pick up a magnet tomorrow at the store and report back with the results.

Let the liberals (commie rats) badmouth Mr. Bush, but thanks to his work, we were not attacked on our own soil since 9/11.

The Obamination is gutting homeland security with his commie appointments.

The obamination is a marxist, racist with no real experience except for being a community promise-maker.

I hope we are discussing President Biden by this time next year.

Actually, I'm sure he'll find plenty to do. Personally, I've always felt that the funniest segments of the Daily Show tend to be the ones that aren't strictly political (possibly because they actually have to come up with something rather than having the jokes handed to them) - my favourite bit this week was the one they did about that guy who tried to fake his own death.

"Pilot, are you alright?"
"No, I'm badly dead."

Go back to jerking off to O'Rally and that fat asshole Rush Limbaugh. We intelligent people like Stewart and Colbert....It's not our fault you lack the IQ to understand them but then again you are neocon jock-sniffers

Rip on obama just like he tore into clinton.

No true troll would call him Mr. Bush. Also, your punctuation is far too good. Nice try though.

Then it is your fault!!!! you better have an apology letter in the mail for those people that died in those pesty anthrax attacks. You know, that whole biowarefare attack, the shiat we were sooo scared of we had to go and invade iraq.

Well atleast we caught the guy responsible for that, it was a top priority for the FBI to find who perpetrated that one...oh wait.

Never underestimate the power of a good humor/political pundit. All Obama has to do is trip walking into the Oval Office or refer to himself as the Magic Nubian, and we're off to the races.

See I like stewart because he loves to give politicians shiat. There is no doubt that he is a democrat, but when it comes to dishing it out, he dishes it out. If a democrat is president, that guy will get it, if a republican is, he will get it. Bush just made it too easy for comedians over 8 years. But if you watch the interviews with actual political leaders, stewart is much kinder to republicans than he is to democrats. He doesn't want to alienate republicans from showing up on his show. Look at how many times mccain was on for instance, great interviews, but they were a bit lighter, but still very interesting.
