FTFA: Thus he found Obama's decision to allow it be mentioned on the steps of the Capitol "bizarre" and "a double-standard."

I assume they have never heard of "context" in Iowa. Please correct me if I am wrong about that, and Rep. King is just an idiot.

"The society is a little strange about this. If you're speaking the truth and in an effort to be objective, there should be nothing off limits in a free society, [but] there are many biases building and clearly a double-standard."

...and such as.

"Is that reserved just for him, not his critics?" King asked.

Consider yourself rebutted, Congressman.

Politics aside, how is it that we keep electing people who are this daft?

I mostly use my middle name instead of my first name. First name has two syllables, six letters and takes 17 strokes to print. Second name has one syllable, five letters and only takes six strokes to print. This has saved me almost enough energy over the years to enable me to write this post for free.

/Doh!

That's funny, I'd have thought Farkers tended to err on the side of more stroking.

What I find "bizarre" is that the RNC who has had their ass handed to them in two election cycles (after discussing a "permanent majority" status after 2004), would consider this to be a good strategy.

You have people losing homes, jobs, companies closing, credit crisis, home values falling, Dow Jones falling, the "Big Three" car makers declaring bankruptcy, and everybody having less money. And their big idea, is to appeal to the nutjobs on Free Republic. And don't tell me that he is a lone nut, because the Republicans have prided themselves on controlling the message. And if they have lost control of their people and their message, how do they think they are going to win back voters?

This is how you lose elections, keep it up GOP, and you might be the next bankruptcy.

Hello, Right Wing American Freaks.

My name is King Hussein. I once was king in a country called "Jordan". I was a huge ally of the USA. I made peace with Israel after decades of war. George HW Bush described me as "an old friend", with whom the USA had shared a "special and long lasting alliance". When I died, four US presidents and their wives came to my funeral, as well as dignitaries from all over the world.

Would it be too much to ask you to please stick your "Hussein" paranoia up your overfed gigantic asses?

Best regards,

King Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

King said the Obama family's assimilation into American culture will not change the perception terrorists would have if Obama wins the White House. King said he will keep a close eye on Middle Eastern streets after the election to see if he is right.

Wouldn't *not* using it make more of a point? Wouldn't it somehow imply there is a problem with the name? Being the only president not to use his full name because of some knee jerking racists republutard... yeah, THAT's how your President should act.

BackAssward: /Why does this guy want the President to be a pussy?

Because the guy coming to power isn't on his team. King isn't interested in bipartisanship for anything more than vote-grabbing. He's an inflammatory asshat, because he can still get away with it in his district (since it's mostly farmers, small towners and 30%ers).

Their assimilation into American culture? What the fark is that supposed to mean? This is implying one of two things: 1) He thinks that black people are not part of overall American culture, and somehow Obama has "assimilated" into it. 2) He actually believes that Obama is a Muslim, and Muslims are not part of overall American culture, and somehow Obama has "assimilated" into it.

And I'm sure when he is watching Middle East streets, and sees that they don't spontaneously, and magicaly transform their countries into secular democracies and allies of the United States he will state "See? Obama hasn't changed everything, so he's a failure already. This proves they won't respect American and we should have elected a Republican to continue these wars."

Yeah sorry, I was being rhetorical. What's funny is the asshat thinks using the name would be 'emboldening' the terrorists. The truth is that if Obama felt so scared at using something as empty in meaning (terror wise) as his name, then THAT would signify the terrorists had one.

/Bizzaro world. Some people on both sides live in it, but I dare say more repubs occupy it overall.

But the Des Moines Register , which had endorsed King for re-election in 2004, endorsed his Democratic opponent, Joyce Schulte, saying that "King has been an embarrassment to Iowa" and "This space won't allow listing all his outrageous remarks and positions."
