If credibility = on/off switch to the gas line to Ukraine, then yes.

Dear Russia,

Keep it up. Send Europe looking for other sources of fuel. See how that goes for your broke ass trying to start another cold war because you're butthurt about Reagan. Europe has the money and savvy to eventually find away around your dumb asses. Good luck funding your cold war 2.

fark Russia. They are being dicks.

And Russians? I don't trust 'em. They are all shady. Around here they roll up to restaurants and nightclubs dressed to the nines in their leather and their black $100,000 mercedes, all serious looking. They are all mobbed up.

Ah yes, because the current issue is ALL about the russians dicking around with the supplies/flow and has nothing to do with the Ukrainian govt being unable to act with one voice OR stop coducting their dick moves...Link (new window)

No, I live in Baltimore. There are lots of Russians/Ukrainians/ former Soviet whatever immigrants here. I haven't been to NYC or LA or Miami lately, but I can only imagine what it is like in those cities.

I complain a great deal about crime tied to illegal aliens and their gangs. And I'm constantly being trolled as a racist and xenophobe. I wish one of those trolls would end up in the hands of the Russian Mafia. Those guys make the MS-13 look like illegal aliens.

/trolling the trolls is fun

A classic case of He Who Smelt it vs He Who Dealt it. Russia counter of Deny vs. Supply has, as yet, not been accepted, pending negotiations by Ban Ki-Moon and all permanent members of the Safety Security Council.

I am really not being a troll here.

Last year I went to the local eyeglass store to get new glasses and contact lenses. Its run by Russians, they are good and they have designer frames at good prices. Anyway, I got my contact lenses and I asked where the bathroom was so I could go and put them in. The guy points me to the back room, I walk in and it is a huge loading dock with boxes and crates stacked to the ceiling of electronics equipment, flat screen tvs, etc...

At a table in the corner are 4 or 5 guys sitting around playing cards. It was a little weird.

Europe is bound by Kyoto preventing anything but solar/wind, which they really don't have the money for at the moment? Russia has a bit of a surplus so they can stand to loose some cash for a short while. Plus I doubt Europe will be willing to stand up to Russia.

/I hope Europe proves me wrong.

You should have asked how much they were selling them for.

Aside from Canada and not counting us, most countries with a lot of oil in their countries tend to be assholes. The sooner we get off of that stuff the better we will be. Let Russia, Venezuela and the Middle East go bankrupt and whither away.

Headline is clumsy.

They sounds like it refers to Britain and Germany.

If referring to Russia, it is more appropriate.

Given that i was an intel analyst for the USAF with a clearance i can't name here, i'm not clueless. Perestroika is Russian for, "we can't keep up and we know it". Maybe it wasn't Reagan alone, but his posture had a great deal with giving Gorby the chance to put a smiley face on giving up. Also, i grew up in West Germany (while there still was a West Germany). Lived in Berlin when the wall came down. For me the cold war wasn't viewed in movies or history books. i had a front row seat. Try again.

As for righty... let's look at my voting record: Clinton, Gore, Kerry, Obama. Righty? Not so much. Just not a pansycrat or history revisionist. Consider the possibility that lefties don't all, as you say, drink the kool aid. Or at least not the same kool aid. You seem to be drinking deep from the "nothing good came from Reagan/Bush/Conservative" flavor. Also, consider that maybe, just maybe, that people are more complex than left and right. For instance, there are people who vote Democrat who are against abortion, and/or against stricter gun control. It's crazy, but true!

Inbred? Childish ad hominem. Any other cliches or stereotypes you'd like to cite? Kool-aid... ah that's a classic.

The soviet system was dead in the water by 86' and Gorbachev even began saying so. Glasnost and Perestroika were views of Gorbachev and his generation that Yuri Andropov put in place in the early 80's. They couldn't keep up, but that was obvious long before Gorbachev.

The downfall of the USSR had more to do with the ethnic conflict that started to plague the republics. Beginning with the Baltics and the conflict with Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Americans love to think Reagan bankrupted them with SDI, but it was internal conflict that destroyed the USSR.

The real trick is how the KGB and GPU got in bed with organized crime and took back Russia.

Before the internal conflict in USSR, there was the Sino-Soviet Split that pretty much harmed USSR's political system later on.

It certainly helped Nixon and America in general in Vietnam and with the SALT treaties, but I would say the opposite was true. The split hurt the PRC more. Everyone forgets what started the Tienanmen massacre in the first place.
