Wow, Newsbusters managed to dig and find a grand total of two non-named journalists from 2005 who criticized Bush for the same thing that the right is trying to criticize Obama for today.

Is there any indication that said no-named journalists actually got any major press for their stories in 2005? If not, then I would recommend that Newsbusters kindly stop whining.

Typical white male response: "Your major moment of liberation can wait for my race's priorities to come first. You're in the economy too, right? Well then act like what matters to all of us is all that matters."

And a Google on "expensive inauguration Obama" has 645 hits as of now. It's not like it's not being brought up.

Bush spent Billions on a wasted war, had already had a shiatty track record, and although somehow managed to receive and MBA, is a complete and total failure concerning practically everything related to economics and foreign policies. I'll give him credit for helping Africa with their issue with Malaria and AIDS, but that's about it.

They aren't giving Obama shiat, because he didn't steal an election or fail to step in as "leader" before 9/11 or totally ignore New Orleans after Katrina or start an unjust war over oil or lie to the American people about why we had to start this unjust war over oil or treat people like idiots... I could go on for an hour and a half...

Uh, not to be the asshole to point out the obvious but maybe we were pissed because Bush isn't worth a shiat covered nickle.

It's hard to rationalize celebrating the fact that so many stupid people exist in this country that a man that cannot speak in public was elected again let alone actually spend our money on it.

DamnYankees: Please explain how a bad national economy has anything to do with the size of the inaugeration.

The inauguration sets a tone for his presidency; spending taxpayer's money in what is perceived to be a frivolous way undermines the idea that the new administration is different from the current administration. People are losing their jobs, homes, pensions; ill-advised spending on the part of the federal government so they can throw themselves a party is not a particularly convincing method to distance the new administration from Bush's.

At what point did the liberals have to "switch" to USA USA!? This would imply that they were not doing that at some point.

So, you're either an idiot or a jingoistic dumbass that thinks criticizing an idiotic president means liberals hate America.

wow, 2 in a row? I'm no economist, but I'm going to venture a guess the idea is that when the economy is in the shiatter, there's better uses for the money than an overblown party. After all, "it's wartime, no occasion for a big party" was sufficient argument in 2005.

You know all of those problems that were referenced in the '05 article as reasons GWB shouldn't spend lots of money on an inaguration?

They happened on GWB's watch.

There is going to be 5 times as many people there too...

Maybe Obama should force people to stay home so the federal government can save money?
