I'm not familiar with the band, but they look quite capable of crying on you, or maybe shaking their tiny little fists.

They look like they're going to get into a gay slap fight with the Jonas Brothers.

Winner gets to plow Zac Efron

Peter Gabriel recently covered one of their songs. They must be doing something right.

They look how I imagine 55% of Farkers look.

The other 44% are fat.

Please note, this actually works at all concerts, with the only known exception possibly being PAUL SIMON shows.

Same goes for Simon. He didnt write (or wrote very little of) the music he used for Graceland and Rhythm of the Saints; he took existing music and added lyrics.

Boritom [TotalFark] 2009-01-13 04:12:00 PM
First off, if you are going to have the word "Vampire" in the name of your band, isn't it a federal requirement that at least 1/2 of your members look Goth in some shape or form?

Secondly, who cares? They're tools.

Third, Suck it, poseurs!

siva 2009-01-13 04:13:10 PM
Can someone explain to me how Vampire Weekend sounds even remotely like Graceland?

/Graceland's way better
//Vampire Weekend doesn't have the abortion that is You Can Call Me Al

ricewater_stool [TotalFark] 2009-01-13 04:14:15 PM
This is one of the only bands who are on "instant station change" status for me. Absolutely awful and derivative. And no, I'm not a music snob- I can listen to just about anything but they really suck.

I love how bands like this enjoy the success of being in movie & TV soundtracks, commercials, magazines, clothing store music backgrounds, countless websites and being the darlings of music critics, but still get to pretend like they're clandestine, off-the-grid indie artists just barely getting by on mixtapes and homemade albums.

I like "A-Punk", which puts me in the minority here I suppose.

These guys had so much hype that the backlash began almost before the album even came out. If they get this pissed off over dumb comments, they might not have the stones to keep it going.

Dude, they wrote a SONG about punctuation. It's like grammar nazis here forming a band. First hit: "That's NOT Irony!" with their follow up smash "Beg the Question."

Boris S. Wort [TotalFark] 2009-01-13 05:44:59 PM
But they look more like they have more in common with Carly Simon.

Originality is overrated. I don't understand why the wheel needs to be constantly reinvented. Can you not just enjoy music as music and not some contest?

ricewater_stool: This is one of the only bands who are on "instant station change" status for me. Absolutely awful and derivative. And no, I'm not a music snob- I can listen to just about anything but they really suck.

Incidentally, if you were a "music snob," you would enjoy them - like me!

ricewater_stool: Dude, they wrote a SONG about punctuation.

PROTIP: That's not what the song is about.

I saw Vampire Weekend at Monolith last year. It was an alright show. Not as good as Devotchka, Mickey Avalon, or Atmosphere, but decent.
\great show
\\only blacked out a little bit

Screw you, Fark. I like their brand of inoffensive pop.

CentralValleyCali 2009-01-13 07:09:24 PM
Wait, who are these guys? Poor Paul Simon, being compared to some band actually called "Vampire Weekend". I bet the music is as great as their name.

siva 2009-01-13 07:55:59 PM
God I hate Peter Gabriel, he butchered that song.

HappyHarryHardOn [TotalFark] 2009-01-13 09:43:40 PM
What kind of idiot band discuss what they do NOT want in interviews...first, its just going to instigate people doing just the opposite
and #2- it makes you look like a pussy. The only thing that could have rattled Keith Richards, is if someone set his dope on fire. Not much else

DrowningLessons 2009-01-13 10:47:51 PM
They're like a weird cross between the Police, the Clash and the Talking Heads.

Ultimately, catchy but not lasting. It'll be a fun album to bust out every once in a year, like Cracked Rear View or Jagged Little Pill 10 years ago.

Look, it's okay if you like Vampire Weekend, but don't drag The Clash into this.

Wasn't there a funny FARK headline recently at Rostam Batmanglij's expense? That sounds awfully familiar. I laughed my ass off, anyway.
