new heights of suck?

WaltzingMathilda [TotalFark] 2009-01-13 12:30:29 PM
you forgot the Grateful Dead. No one covered Dylan quite like the Dead.

WaltzingMathilda [TotalFark] 2009-01-13 12:34:04 PM
ugh, and it's Desolation Row, a song the Dead did wonderfully. Motherfark. I will never listen to this.

And if I were in that band, I'd be pissed. There are 8 pictures in that slide show, all of just the singer.

WaltzingMathilda: An earbleach version of a different cover if you accidentally clicked on thomps' link (new window)

this might be blasphemy (and please don't take it as an endorsement of the MCR version) but i really don't like that dead cover either.

it is blasphemy to most deadheads. bobby was the voice of about half their tunes.

Dylan is no Placido Domingo, but if I ever hear Placido singing a Dylan Song I'll probably poke out my eardrums.

...new heights that even Dylan himself couldn't attain

enunciation?

Maybe if it was one of those songs from his evangelical Christian albums...

i wasn't a fan of that era of dylan, but i think they were merely gospel. "evangelical" seems to bring a certain connotation that dylan himself would never agree with.

And Peter, Paul and Mary, don't forget Peter, Paul and Mary.

Never liked Dylan or My Chemical Romance. No loss or win in my mind.

Bob Ondeeznuts: Dylan song "rabble rabble hey heeeey heeeeey rabble rabble"

easiest way to know someone's never listened to dylan or they are deaf: they admit they can't understand what he says

Actually no, I have a friend of mine who is a huge Dylan fan (he has a music room in his house that is about 800 square feet that is covered with Dylan concert posters, pictures, and other memorabilia). He listens to it all the time and I have to when I go over to his house. Also, I do understand what he says and his meanings behind his music. I never could latch onto it, that's all.

Just because I don't like a certain musician doesn't mean I don't know anything about music. There are musicians I like that you probably have no idea about but I don't discredit your opinion for not knowing or liking.

i didn't discredit your opinion. i could care less if you like him. i merely said you must not have ever listened to him or you can't hear if this is your description of a dylan song: "rabble rabble hey heeeey heeeeey rabble rabble" ... pardon me for misinterpreting that as a criticism of his enunciation (an old, and historically inaccurate joke).

As a fan of both Dylan and Watchmen, I would like to give a swift kick in the nuts to whoever thought this would be a good idea.

String Cheese Incident did an awesome cover of a Dylan song at a concert I went to in October 2002 in Berkeley. I can't remember what song it was, just that it was awesome.

And that's my story.

thomps: the cover in question: (new window)

OK I got home from work and got a chance to actually listen to this and it's even worse than I imagined. I want to stab that singer in his taint with a rusty spork and turn it slowly counterclockwise.

Bhasayate [TotalFark] 2009-01-13 07:48:41 PM
OH, how original: lets take an interesting song and "punk" it out, you know, make it totally cool by making it sound just like a Sex Pistols Song, or one by the Ramones, or whatever.

That song, however, sounds like they went out to go and cover it like a Green Day song.

It's not even that good.

That was pure suck. Bunch of whiney Wentzs, that what those jerkoffs are.

"My Chemical Panic at the Fall Out Disco" BULLshiat

I'd imagine the public reaction to this will be a lynching. And I'm sure they'll be selling postcards of the hanging.

But then all the agents, and the super-human crew, will come out and round up everyone who knows more than they do.

when i want a dylan cover, i always turn to the dulcet sounds of peter, paul and mary.

it doesn't rock any harder than that.
