Actually, listening to a drunken Irishman ramble on about something can be very informative. The drunken poet archetype is common in fiction and myth, due to the less you care about how certain topics are taboo and the rerouting your brain has to do to get neurosignals past temporarily-pickled brain cells leading your thoughts down unusual pathways. As long as the guy can communicate, you might learn something.

Having said that, I was kinda hoping this would be a sacred cow BBQ.

Bono recommending anyone EVER listen to the crock of awful that is the Duets album(s) is a disgrace. No true fan of Sinatra would send anyone in that direction.

That was a painful read. Shakespeare he is not.

There are thousands of real journalists out of work, people who are qualified and need the income, and some damn pop star is the one who gets paid to write. Badly. Makes sense to me...

Agreed. It's more fun when you can cast the Sinatra lines as spoken by Phil Hartman.

One would have to know what good music was in order to know what should be listened to. This would imply that if one knew good music, one would make good music. Saying to listen to the Duets album first to get a taste of Sinatra is like recommending U2 to get a taste for "classic rock"

A fairly sober, lyrically challenged, knight of the British Empire that left Ireland for tax purposes.

Actually, his contribution to it was about the only thing that didn't suck.

Funny story about the Duets album: when they showed Sinatra the list of who he was going to perform with, he threw a shiatfit and demanded to know why there were giving a boost to the career of "that idiot Sonny Bono."

When it was explained to him that he was going to be singing with Bono from U2, who he'd gotten drunk with in Vegas on a number of occasions, he calmed down.

A shame that they couldn't hire a real writer. That was a very painful read.

Wow. That was bad. He's trying way to hard to be clever.

/Can't stand Bono
//Like early U2 though
