A $28.5 million house in Tennessee? Really?

mjoven1975 [TotalFark] 2009-01-11 05:09:59 PM
The owner probably set the house on fire himself.

CougarJeff [TotalFark] 2009-01-11 05:19:35 PM

looks like the house has been on the market for a while. If I'm the insurance investigator I would be very suspicious.

"the home included nine bedrooms, 10 full baths, three half-baths, 20,000 square feet of living space and the interior was furnished with a home theater and an indoor basketball court"

...sprinkler system sold separately.

I always wanted a castle. But I can't afford the taxes or the utilities.
Or the castle.

jbrooks544 2009-01-11 05:47:29 PM
It was on the market. 'nuf said.

My bet is he definitely torched it.

He just got tired of waiting for it to (not) sell, and/or couldn't face cutting the price by 75% to actually make it sell.

Sounds like this guy had a once in a lifetime chance to get off the road to nowhere, and acted like a psycho killer living a wild wild life. Perhaps he told his neighbour his girlfriend is better. The neighbour was crosseyed and painless thanks to the drugs you find in all the cities these days, sold by slippery people.

It ended up with him burning down the house and thinking what a day that was.

you probably could've added "and she was" after "girlfriend is better"... but win, anyway.

What would the mortgage payments be?

PSA: When people are in danger of losing everything they've worked for, they get desperate.

This just happened near me. A family owned business went up. They were on the verge of losing their shirt on inventory they couldn't move in this economy. Police are investigating...

I would imagine with a 28 million dolla home, the arsonist will be very, very good.

When they had the recent LA wildfires, I saw some homes going up in flames that were conspicuously away from the fire front.

Burning embers, sure, but I wondered if certain people didn't see the fires as an opportunity.

me3512 2009-01-11 06:07:02 PM
owner to investigator:

fire starts, nobody home, gate has no power so it takes longer for F.D. to get there.... That is terrible, By the way I was having steak in Paris that day.

Sliding a briefcase under the table.

So it's sad that a millionare who probably couldn't sell the house in this market but likely WILL get a nice insurance settlement, had his house burn down?

geekybroad

Also, this.

How can a trailer be worth 28.5 million?

More surprising there are Jewish folks in hill country.

Ed_Severson 2009-01-11 06:22:38 PM
Dear retardmitter,

Either "$" or "dollar". Pick one, not both. It's not a 28 million dollar dollar house, you moran.

No, no. You're not following his logic. See, he has this vision of Tennessee in his head where everyone lives in trailer parks, drinks crappy beer, home schools their kids so they can teach them about Jesus and the myth of evolution, and beats their women. Any evidence to the contrary must be ignored.

/there are rich people everywhere

LarryBird33 2009-01-11 06:25:27 PM
If somebody can afford a $28 Milliond dollar house, and the property taxes that go with it, they also could have made arrangments for a private Fire Department
