You can't even get a school-board member impeached with a petition. This is blind, impotent, right-wing nutjobbery.

Whereas: I read the word "whereas" in some official document once and believe it to be a word that makes me sound intelligent, lawyerly, and efficient; and,

Whereas: I believe that the colon, not the comma, is the correct follow-up to the word "whereas" in every instance of its use and find colons to be cool and interesting items of punctuation that I am looking forward to using frequently in this document; and,

Whereas: I am also a fan of the occasional use of CAPITALIZATION, and having seen this practice also performed in other important and official DOCUMENTS plan to do some of it in this one as well; and,

WHEREAS: I'm not really sure what "whereas" means, though, since it appears to be made up of the words "where" and "as" and it's not entirely clear to me how those two words relate to one another. In fact, it seems like it would be more appropriate to use a word like "Because" or even "Because of" or maybe even make up a word that's a combination of those two, like "becof;" but,

WHEREAS: I've never seen the word "becof" used in an important document before, so I guess it would seem silly to use it here when I want people to take me seriously; so,

WHEREAS: I'll just keep using "whereas" to start these paragraphs. But now I forgot what I came here to say. Damn.

Whereas: I guess that means I have to stop now.

Whereas.

Some days I question whether this whole "Internet" thing was a good idea after all.

There is just sooooooo much naked stupidity all over the place. At times the Internet seems like a giant room with a billion diarrhea-afflicted monkeys all screeching and flinging poo at each other.

At least there are the terabytes of music, movies, and freaky pr0n--

But at what cost?

At what cost?

It's a perfect example of why the electoral college should remain in place. America is full of smart people, but the idiots may just outnumber them. They're a lot louder too.

Riche: At what cost?

I am convinced that the internet is the true cause of our current economic collapse. It did this in 2 ways. First the implosion of the dot com bubble was dealt with by Greenspan with lowered interest rates in a deliberate effort to start a housing bubble - and we know how that ended. Secondly it allowed people to devise crack-smoking investment strategies based on real time information from the internet.

queezyweezel: It's a perfect example of why the electoral college should remain in place. America is full of smart people, but the idiots may just outnumber them. They're a lot louder too.

Sigh.

Bad idea, especially considering the way it's set up today,

Think about it:

Nobody today votes for 'ol Joe Bob to go to the electoral college to debate, discuss, research and help decide on who the best person to be president would be. THAT was the original intent of the EC. I think it was flawed, but it had the same noble intention you just expressed.

But it don't work that way anymore.

Today the masses vote for a group of brainwashed party wonks who are pledged to vote for one guy-- the guy listed by the checkbox on the ballot.

Making matters worse, most idiots who vote are located in the relatively sparsely populated "red" states. Due to the way things are set up, the smaller a state's population the more each individual vote is worth.

End result is that the system as it stands today is more than just unfair to those in larger states; it's (slightly) weighted towards the idiots.

As it stands now, any particularly close election for president is going to go to who wins the bible thumping red states, even if the candidate ends up behind by several hundred thousand votes.

Hell, just look at the utter disaster of last guy who got in the White House after losing the popular vote.

Hedge fund blackbox trading strategies date back to the 80s. As for interest rates, considering they got jacked up in an effort to cool off the economy back when Greenspan thought that was a good idea, well yeah.

Keynesianism is a failure Obama, accept it. If the Great Depression wasn't enough, Bush showed that clearly with his Keynesian type policies throughout his presidency. Don't repeat the mistake.

/Politicians love Keynesianism because it DEMANDS that they spend other peoples money.

Dare I mention that Congress has its own vehicle to remove members? Or that Senators don't fall under the "President, Vice-President, and all civil officers" portion of the impeachment show? Judges and Presidents can be impeached--Senators and House members have their own methods to get the Iron Boot of Justice from their colleagues.

Civics education. Can we haz sum?

I guess these people do not know there Constitutional Law. You canot impeach someone who has resigned there office, as Obama did on November 14, 2008. He is now just a private citizen until 12 noon on Jan 20.

At that point, they can start this up again, but until then,

they are sucking hind teat.

and they call themselves responsible citizens

I was going to say something on the grounds of 'In before Bush bots come in screaming about how libs did it to Bush and how this is COMPLETELY justifiable because they did it to Bush,' but then I read it was to impeach Senator Obama instead.

The level of stupidity in those comments is mind-boggling.

"I Just wanted to say. Obama spent over a million dollers on his campain. A birt certificate costs ten dollers, so why dosn,t he produce it."

"Obama is an American citizen but is NOT a natural born citizen because his father was Kenyan. Both parents have to be American and the child has to be born on American soil in order to be a natural born citizen!"

"where are the constitutionalis? where are the real Americans? We need truth and not so much retiric"

Hehehe... what is it with Republicans having an IQ no greater than 80, having the tendency to use caps a lot and never, ever, using correct grammar and spelling?

The IQ no greater than 80 explains all of that, including them being republican.

While these petitions are sort of amusing, in their inanity, even if they scrub the comments, you do realize that every "signature" to these asinine things will be counted by them every time they bring up this garbage up?

Even by signing this tripe with a faux signature, it only adds to their "credibility" within the fringe community by boosting numbers of hits and they'll edit the commentary and keep the vote. Yes, it's spurious, it has no real validity, but they'll then use these faux petitions as fodder to bolster their "credibility" by showing their "numbers" which are then scrubbed.

Why? Because they're asshats. Who hope and trade that you'll stumble upon them. Both as an illustration of "liberal hate"--and any disagreement is seen as being a closet Liberal, and a traitor to "the cause" even if you bring objection on grounds of wasting our damn time with spurious accusation and non-existent procedural precedent--and as simply a way to up their hit counter.
