The world would be a better place if people just thought twice about what they're shoving into their Maw.

Is it really that hard to think for ourselves these days?!

They can put the CONTAINS MILK warning right next to the big warning that now says MANUFACTURED IN A FACILITY WHICH ALSO PROCESSES NUTS, WHEAT, STRAWBERRIES, AND SHELLFISH, to warn off the people who are so farking allergic to stuff that they really, really should be sterilized when they're identified.

I think they look for those for a good time. Most people with these allergies are also in to Auto-erotic Asphyxiation.

/awesome, babe now gimmie my eppie.

Actually, it's a miracle Cadbury chocolate actually contains milk, and not some non-dairy extender crap.

The latest Dairy Milk wrappers feature a logo showing a glass and a half of milk being poured into a chocolate chunk, put milk first in a list of ingredients and explains that there is "The equivalent of three quarters of a pint of milk of fresh liquid milk in every half pound of milk chocolate".

Yet when I come to work drunk, they threaten to fire me!

What about those of us who are allergic to chocolate? does Cadbury not care to put a simple warning on their chocolate bars? They'll be hearing from my lawyers!

This is sue-happy america and bullshiat like this HAS to be done to protect against lawsuits.

Although, the lawsuits don't piss me off as much as the fact people WIN them.

gamacrit 2009-01-11 11:50:01 AM
We have to make special treats for school for my son, who is milk allergic. The one "Milk Chocolate" frosting we use for all his cupcakes contains no milk. Go figure.

I'm allergic to wrappers. They'll be hearing from my attorney as well.

Why are we saving these people? Shouldn't we let the really stupid ones kill themselves?

Why warn people with milk allergies that milk chocolate has milk?

If we let them kill themselves:

a) It cleanses the gene pool

b) It makes for funny headlines.

WIN-WIN!

I got called to jury duty. My cow-irkers all offered advice on how to get out of serving. I ponder, if everyone who has a job, who earns a living gets out of jury duty, then who is left? Jobless bums with no where better to be. Thats where these silly lawsuit judgements come from.

I'm surprised no one has caught the obvious.

"Their MILK chocolate bars"

Their = possessive form of They
They're = They are

They ARE milk chocolate bars.

/Tag might be appropriate for submitter

My Cadbury Dairy Milk Fine Milk Chocolate bar has a picture of 2 glasses of milk being poured on a piece of chocolate. I suspect it contains Milk. Sure enough the first ingredient is Milk Chocolate which contains Sugar, Milk, and Chocolate. It does note that it is manufactured on the same equipment that processes tree nuts. When did the Milk allergy lobby get more powerful (and dumber) than the Tree Nut allergy lobby?

When they start putting "Contains Gluten" on bread, our failure will be complete.

I'm not seeing the problem. The chocolate bars they sell are possessed by them.

Oh, nevermind, I just got it. The second expression is a fragment, not a full sentence as you have interpreted it. Sorry for the double post.

This should not be an issue. The packaging already says it contains milk. How should this protect them any further?

I say let the stupid be stupid. If they kill themselves in the process, the entire human race wins.

TheMysteriousStranger 2009-01-11 01:10:06 PM
Oddly enough in the United States the "contains milk" would not an attempt to prevent lawsuit, it is simply complying with the law. Such an allegen warning is required (new window) by the FDA. The regulation does not say "unless it is obvious" it simply requires it in all cases. Do we really want "unless otherwise obvious" exception. I sure hope not since that would make it a lawyers wet dream.

I am not sure I believe the article about the labeling not being some sort of requirement in the UK especially since regulations there are usually harsher than in the United States.

What is next? People posting that a bag of ice says "Ingredients: water" (it does)? Or maybe container of salt (without iodine variety) listing its ingredients as "salt"?

If you make rules for labeling of nutrition facts, ingredients, and potential allergens there will be cases of the obvious being stated.

We went to this seafood restaurant once and one of the guys on the booth next to us was allergic to shellfish!!

He asked to speak to the manager beforehand to make sure he ordered something that didn't have traces of shellfish. The manager told him the only thing he could guarantee was the house salad.

I can't believe he didn't just flat-out ask the guy to leave in order to avoid the inevitable allergic reaction and lawsuit.
