Yes, idiot. Let the dude take office and make decisions before acting like a premature jackoff.

WHOOPS! Too late!

Bathia_Mapes [TotalFark] 2009-01-11 12:37:57 AM
Yes, absolutely.

It is never too soon to run down someone you didn't vote for, who won in spite of all your efforts.

/Nor is it too soon for subby whine like a little girl who just skinned her knee.

Why wont you listen? You NEVER GO FULL RETARD.

Just remember subby, if Obama quits, is impeached, or worse, this guy becomes President:

Be careful what you wish for.

FTFA: by P.J. O'Rourke

LOL. From what I understand, dude makes Ted Nugent look like a moderate.

sarahthustra [TotalFark] 2009-01-11 01:12:28 AM
no way. i'm already writing failed presidency/vice presidency fanfic.

naughty, naughty joe biden...

Lundah: Be careful what you wish for.

Ah yes, the old "Protection by Cheney" canard. ;)

Isotope: LOL. From what I understand, dude makes Ted Nugent look like a moderate.

Nah, he's definitely right-of-center, but he's nowhere near as out there as the Noodge, Hannity, etc. He's kind of like Dave Barry (funny, but not that funny)and William F Buckley (conservative, but not neoconservative) all rolled into one.

Zabbadizzat [TotalFark] 2009-01-11 01:45:12 AM

breatheophelia [TotalFark] 2009-01-11 02:27:01 AM
I will gladly put up with this ignorant and thoughtless bullshiat from nobodies for the next eight years.

I've put up with far worse from the last president in the last eight.

Mordant [TotalFark] 2009-01-11 02:33:46 AM
Actually, no. The neocons are identifying themselves by how much credibility they want to have going forward.

PoopStain: This is a man who is high, drunk, and as worthless as the field of journalism can possibly grow. I would expect such nonsense in Rolling Stone from Matt Taibbi, not The Weekly Standard.

Lighten up, Francis. I don't agree with him, but O'Rourke is a humor columnist/essayist. He just isn't that funny. Conservatives seem to love him, though. He's much more...lucid when being serious, though.

PoopStain: //no, no one is ever going to publish your novel

You might want to double-check his CV.

As a Chicagoan I feel comfortable saying this isn't Obama's presidency, it's ours. By that I mean Daley is running this outfit now, and Daley does not fark around. Things are going to change big time. Nobody that nobody sent ain't doing nothing. If you thought Bush had his people trained on what to let out you haven't seen anything yet. Mark my words, We aren't hearing anything they don't want us to for the next 12 years. Two years in we aren't going to hear a peep about the middle east, and that'll last at least a decade. The genius of Chicago politics is that it makes parties irrelevant. Daley'll do whatever he wants and you'll love him for it. It's no reflection on you, it's just what he does, and he does it better than anyone. All this stuff is only going to get more mystical and bizarre, but we're all going to lap it up like starving dogs. Daley.

rescue11cpt [TotalFark] 2009-01-11 03:39:39 AM
My question is how can you 'want' your President to fail? I did not votte for Obama, but he is the leader of our country. IMHO if he fails, we fail.

whidbey [TotalFark] 2009-01-11 03:46:50 AM
Yes. Obama failed. He opened up the Treasury, and holding the coffers upside down shook down all the gold pieces to the rabble, and then blew this place sky high with the nukes under the White House. And he said "to hell with the flag."

He was the Anti-Christ after all.

rescue11cpt: My question is how can you 'want' your President to fail? I did not votte for Obama, but he is the leader of our country. IMHO if he fails, we fail.

and in the midst of the hysterical shrill comes a barely heard voice of reason. Kudos!

Mithiwithi [TotalFark] 2009-01-11 03:54:06 AM
The article was barely coherent - the best I could get from it is "Obama sucks because I can't think of any effective way to make fun of him". Oh, and some boilerplate snark about how government can never work which nobody except the 23%ers believes anymore.

I actually see that article as a positive sign.

Y'see, if P.J. O'Rourke is asked to write a column for the Weekly Slandered at this point in time, he's almost contractually obligated to write something bitingly sarcastic and dismissive about Obama. So he did. And this piece of lame-arse tripe is the best he can do.

I dunno, it'll be kinda fun on Inauguration Day to go find some place where crazy, bitter people are and watch them cringe when Obama uses his full name to take the oath of office.

I have to agree with posters above: I didn't vote for McCain but if someone I didn't vote for wins, I still want them to succeed.

Of course, this whole attitude would be much more easy to propagate if people were not running around with poorly nuanced 9th grade definitions of socialism.

Cyclometh 2009-01-11 04:07:10 AM
This has to be satire.

Are people who are allowed to write for the Weekly Standard really this stupid? I'm amazed that this guy has enough neurons to breathe unassisted.

Why do good jobs in media always go to total mouthbreathers?

FTFY. And Palin afterwards. The country finally caught on to the Republican Anti-Assassin tactic.

Why did Reagan get shot? Because nobody was ill at ease with the idea of GHW Bush becoming President.

Oh that reminds me. It looks like Dubya managed to survive and break the so-called even-decade curse. It was a close one, though, wasn't it...between choking on pretzels, falling off Segways, dodging shoes...he made it!

The rest of the country, however...

Sum Dum Gai 2009-01-11 04:28:16 AM
He has allowed America's current number one jackleg, crackpot, smut-mouth, slime-licking politician to give the Obama Senate seat to a lovable old African-American doofus whom no one has the heart to execrate.

Yeah, he should use the Constitutional power given to the President-Elect to veto a Senate appointment.

So, to reiterate:

YES, YOU GODDAMN FARKING MORONS, IT IS!

/I really hope no one did this to FDR. Coming to power when things are shiat does not make you shiat. It just confirms that the last guy was shiat.

If I recall, it was the start of the first term.

/Maybe not, I was in highschool at the time

What happened to you PJ? You used to be cool. One of the tradegies of the Bush administration is the utter neutering of O'Rourke's satirical powers. HST should have shot him instead, out of pity.

In the language of politics there is only one translation for the phrase "hope and change," to wit, "big, fat government."

Coming off of the last 8 years, I just don't understand how neocons can make this "he'll expand the government" accusation with a straight face.

I've been a fan of P.J. since I was in high school, but he used to be smarter AND funnier than this.

Paschal 2009-01-11 05:56:36 AM
Yup. And this is the guy that was held up as an example of Republican humor. Meh.

/Although I did enjoy "Holidays in Hell". Of course that was about 15 years ago. What the hell happened P.J.?

manduwala 2009-01-11 06:07:40 AM
Paschal To be fair, I'm not sure any Republican's actually read him. He was interested in the outside world. Looks like bowel cancer is making him reasses his priorities.

Paschal 2009-01-11 06:19:19 AM
Manduwala, I was unaware that he was ill. I guess he wants to get his shots in while he can. Of course I would never want to wish an illness like that on anyone. I hope he recovers so he can snipe at Obama for at least the next eight, er, four years.

manduwala 2009-01-11 06:54:38 AM
Paschal I think he got lost in the Bush years. His constant criticism of Clinton was amusing and pertainant, but when you have people who embody "your" party faughing up so incredibly you can get a bit lost. He's to good a writer to go the Limbaugh/Coulter route and brazen it out with lies, paranoia and faux outrage but his satirical rug was pulled from under him. His domestic stuff during the Bush admin just makes him seem rather tired. That, combined with the fact that he never really had a large right-wing readership anyway makes him a bit little redundant. It's a shame, because when he's on top of his game ("Holidays in Hell, Republican Party Reptile") he can be excellent, especially as I disagree with almost all his politics, if not his instincts. Its nice to disagree with intelligent people, I miss it.

JohnnyC 2009-01-11 07:31:13 AM
Summercat: If I recall, it was the start of the first term.

I had predicted that Bush would be a poor President prior to him taking office for his first term. But that was based on his career full of failure, bankrupting companies, an old cocaine habit, being an alcoholic, and more lies than I could count from him through the campaign season. However, I didn't claim he had already failed, I simply said I thought he would... and I was right.

Of course, right after 9/11 Bush had my full support... right up until he squandered it by immediately setting his eyes upon starting a war with Iraq. See... I had wanted him to go after the people who had already attacked us... not give millions of people reasons to want to do so in the future.

I predict Obama will be a really good President if not a great President. Only time will tell if I am right about that too.
