It's actually kind of been bugging me, since I figured the 1-3 e-mails a day from him/someone on his staff would stop once he was elected. I mean, it's nice to get e-mails from the President-elect on a regular basis, but he's needier than most of the companies I do business with, in terms of money.

Can't he just borrow everything he needs and spend cash he doesn't have ? The "conservatives" would certainly appreciate that since it's the only thing they understand.

I merely signed up for his email updates and I get all of these. It is amusing, Wonkette is right on target as usual.

I thought the exact same thing. Email: "Make a donation and you can get tickets to the inaugeration!" Me: "I'll donate on April 15 like everyone else, get off my case."

Ehh had a great job at the time and could afford it. But yes I was a huge supporter,and still am. What pissed me off was the e-mail the other day asking me to give money to pay off "our friend" Hillarys debt. Not a chance in hell.

During Obama's campaign I was VERY tempted to kick a few hundred bucks to the guy, but the only thing that held me back was the fear of getting on a bunch of fundraising lists and having to live with a flood of spam and additional junk mail begging for money for the rest of my life.

I bet there were a LOT of people who were like me-- Obama might have been easily able to raise twice the money he did if his campaign had some sort of plausible guarantee the list of donors wouldn't be reused.

If you'd actually read the email you'd know exactly where the money is going:

You do realize you could always get a work visa then apply for residency if you are so dissatisfied with America. But that's probably too difficult, biatching is so much easier.

That's what I did. Donated a total of about $50 in September/October, and that opened the floodgates. Had to unsubscribe.

Besides, the amount of money I'd have to give before she even noticed it would force me to eat peanut butter sandwiches and ramen for a year. She could easily pay off the entire amount without noticeably affecting her current lifestyle.

If I were rich, I would feel ashamed to ask the poor and middle class to pay off debts I freely took on. If she actually becomes broke, and it's a choice between my donation and her next meal, then I might feel more giving.

When I got those Boobies-campaign emails asking for MORE money, I was like WTF? You want me to donate AFTER you've won a historic election which will guarantee you MEGAMILLIONS in "speaking engagements" and various business opportunities in 5 or 9 years? Oh, what's that? The DNC borrowed shiatloads of cash and now you have to pay it all back? Great fiscal-responsibilty example you're setting there. How about you just enjoy being the most powerful leader in the world and I'll enjoy the last $3 in my bank account.

Off the $350 I gave them, I "bought" an election day shirt in early October. It arrived two weeks after the election.

I lost some respect for Obama when the emails asking me to buy commemorative mugs and fleece jackets. I'm guessing that he and his senior advisors didn't know what was being blast emailed out, and that's the problem.

I sent $200 before the election. It's the first money I ever sent to a candidate. It was all I could afford at the time and I have to say I've been turned off by the constant requests for money since. Especially the ones that ask for contributions before midnight so you can get in some lottery for a seat at election night/inauguration/fill in the blank.

I guess it's business as usual but it really is too much. I won't be sending any more money until the next election, and that's only if I think it's warranted.

It's the DNC list, Obama doesn't have a whole lot of control. If he wants to appear to be a good democrat, he has to raise some money for the party before he's President and it would be improper.
