Credibility? Didn't the republicans just give a standing ovation to a convicted felon and have a airport wide stance scandal?

I'll trade Bob Casey for Al Franken any day of the week. At least he has a personality.

Bin Laden is only an enemy to America... like the Republicans themselves.

I couldnt be happier that he won. I'm still pissed off at my party for completely ignoring the rest of the country they supposedly swore to represent. I may not like every stance Obama has, but at least he's considering the opinions and wishes of the Republicans, which is a lot more than I can say for many of the Republicans in office the last 8 years.

I don't think getting elected to play a part in a larger political ideological theater is a credible reason for being a public servant. I hope he sticks to representing his constituents instead of grandstanding a liberal ideology media show. He has a job to do for the people who elected him, I hope he does it.

Perhaps the people who elected him want him to grandstand a liberal ideology. We could use some of that action down here in the bible belt.

Shouldn't we expect this from ALL our congresscritters? No matter which corner of the sty they prefer to wallow in?

anybody catch this bit of Irony in the Article?

Prominent conservative Rush Limbaugh, who Franken mocked in the title of one of his books, has already jabbed Franken on his radio show, telling listeners in December that Franken "won't quit [the Senate race] because he doesn't know how to get a real job...He's a pathetic figure."

And what was Franken's job before running for Senate? The exact same one Rush Limbaugh currently does: political radio talk show host

Fart_Machine 2009-01-10 10:52:58 AM
"It's going to be hard for Franken to be very effective with any Republicans, in terms of having any credibility with us, just because he's been so nasty in the past," Seifert said. "He certainly has callous and very partisan behavior in the past that is beyond the pale."

But he's so mean!

Of course. Even better than "expecting", we should be "demanding".

Republicans don't like Franken because Franken wants them to pay taxes too and also Franken knows who's doing all the stealing from the middle/working class.

Some of the things he's said were beyond the pale. They were true statements about Republicans.

Just guessing here, but I bet Franken is rich also. I've known who he is for many years. I got his autograph 25 years ago when I was in college and he was "Franken and Davis."

Usually you get rich by working hard. I said "usually."

Having said that, the next four years of whining, biatching and moaning from republicans over him will most likely be delicious.

I'm torn on how to feel about all of this.

Yeah, and we know that the Minnesota Republican Party is so full of honorable people, like Norm Coleman and Michelle Bachmann.

In the quote by the Republican Party Chairman, he used the words,
"honorable" and "republican" in the same sentence. I understand what he was saying but, well, it just seem so, so wrong to use both those words in the same sentence. Just wrong!

let the healing begin, my Republican. the light is coming towards you. embrace it and don't be afraid. the truth will set you free.
a True Republican is only concerned about him/herself, his/her money. that is it. and when you see this you will realize that the republican party is not where you want to be.

Feh, EVERYONE of a differing viewpoint is Public Enemy #1 to the Republicans. For several years, I think they all considered Michael Moore a greater threat to the United States than the Taliban, Saddam, and Osama combined.
