(Gigwise) Interesting ABBA named music group fans want to see reunite the most, followed closely by The Smiths and Take That. In related news, heterosexual males apparently aren't into reunions   (gigwise.com) divider line 49

isn't one of the guys in ABBA dead?

And Take That? Really? People over here are barely worked up over the NKOTB reunion...

I will admit the Smiths being in my top3, possibly #1.

Who the hell is Take That?
ABBA, Yeah, I'd like to see them reunite...in HELL

FeedTheCollapse: isn't one of the guys in ABBA dead?

Yeah, one of the session musicians., not A,B,B or A.

The Smiths? Sure, but it won't happen. English Beat did.
I'll throw in Oingo Boingo, just because I can't think of anyone who hasn't stuck together at the moment.

ABBA wrote great pop songs and if ya get past the sugary sweetness, there's a lot of great stuff going on in those songs. Plus the bass lines were killer.

Agree. Abba wrote perfect pop songs. Catchy, catchy pop songs.

Didn't we see a similar ABBA article recently?

Unlike many 'pop' bands (whatever that means), they wrote their own songs, so they made ridiculous amounts of dough.

Not a fan, but they're definitely still around.

My vote would have been for Blur, but that's happening, which is awesome.

ABBA, to me, was the best of the rotten bunch of "disco" "bands" that came out. The music was well put together and catchy, and above all it SOUNDED good. It might have been close, but it wasn't crap.

Sure, a reunion would be fun. I'd go if the tickets aren't $200 a pop. But only because my girlfriend would do terribly nasty things for the gift. And, really, that's why the guys listened in the first place.

fark reunions, build me a time machine so I can go back in time to their hayday and see

1) The Replacements
2) The Pixies
3) Velvet Underground
4) Faith No More (any incarnation except when Courtney Love was in)
5) The Damned
6) Hendrix
7) Stevie Ray Vaughn
8) Morphine
9) X
10) Talking Heads pre-Burning Down the house

Brigandaca 2009-01-09 03:13:33 PM
ABBA - well at least one of them is dead so that isn't happening
Take That - they reunited about 3 years ago so this must be way old
The Smiths - there seems to have been a lot of rumours about this one recently so stay tuned

Put me down for The Stone Roses (which may also happen as apparently only Ian Brown is left to agree).

Gah. I'll kick in $20 if they don't make me go to an ABBA reunion.

Not a lot of groups I really want to see reunited, now that I think of it. Most of the best bands, it's just not possible, what with somebody being dead and all.

That's what I came here to say.

I used to love The Smiths, but my loathing of Morrissey outweighs any desire to see them.

/don't care about the rest

Dumbasses.

One of the Beatles died. Is that where the confusion springs from?

Hate to be the one to tell you, but Richard Wright won't be doing any reunions. I agree with the sentiment though.

Check your math there.

You'd only need two bullets for a Beatles reunion.

/They're going in order of talent. Ringo's gonna live to 116.

1) None of ABBA are dead.

2) Take That were the biggest pop act in Europe and, well, most places outside North America for a long long time. And they've since reunited and had a #1 album. Unfortunately.

3) ABBA had some OK songs but they were nowhere near as good as Chic or Earth Wind & Fire.

JerrySizzler 2009-01-10 01:42:28 AM
ABBA have repeatedly been offered scads of money to reunite, but, God bless 'em, they refuse.

Benny was pretty cute in his prime.

The Replacements. But the picture of the Eagles is just baffling. They've already reinvented reuniting.

Just gotta chime in here- I love the Stone Roses, especially their debut album. But I saw them twice back in the day and the truth is Ian Brown is a very inconsistent singer live. You're better off just listening to the records and thinking what might have been.

Bexta 2009-01-11 07:55:00 AM
I dunno man, I saw Ian Brown live a couple of months ago and he was fab so all I can ascertain from that is that he's just brilliant all the time

rekoil [TotalFark] 2009-01-11 11:14:10 AM
Whoever mentioned Boingo, echoed.

More of my picks:
Love and Rockets (NOT Bauhaus!)
The The ca. 1990 (w/ Johnny Marr)
The Sugarcubes (just one reunion tour...)
Faith No More

While not technically a reunion, I'd also love to see Gunter Shultz and En Esch rejoin KMFDM. Sascha desperately needs better collaborators than the current crew.
