It's sad how even the worst quotes of the YEAR for Daily Kos can easily be outdone by a random page out of Free Republic.

hillbillypharmacist [TotalFark] 2009-01-09 08:57:33 AM
I'd love to see the same from Fark.

And since Fark isn't particularly conservative or liberal (but kind of a mish-mash of alcoholics and nerds) our worst list would be a condemnation of all Americans instead of just libtards.

RoxtarRyan [TotalFark] 2009-01-09 09:04:12 AM
Brought to you by the Right Wing News!

Seriously, both the left and right wings are the same types of crazy; just different sides of the same coin.

That was the ten worst?

My god there had to be greater lunacy than that. Those seemed like user comments. I thought it would be quotes from their editors/opinion guys/column peoples. If you going with user comments c'mon there had to be more crazy than that.

RWN ain't trying hard enough, meh.

True dat

Are these seriously the craziest posts on KOS? The Zionism one was pretty out there, but the rest don't seem much worse then you'd see on Fark...I'm disappointed.

6) "The United States of America are on the brink of a major revolution. I am not talking about some fuzzy "internet revolution" or similar hogwash but the real McCoy.
I mean armed uprising, riots, civil war. The full Monty.

I like this one. How do they think they're going to get an armed revolution when they keep on banning guns.

No YOU'RE a Towel: It's sad how even the worst quotes of the YEAR for Daily Kos can easily be outdone by a random page out of Free Republic.

The difference is that people who disagree with the Free Republic posters/commenters will be banned. I'm sure if you look at where these were posted, you'll still see plenty of comments disagreeing with them from people who have not been banned from Daily Kos.

The United States needs to be invaded - not just invaded - occupied, and then every single American citizen sterilized to prevent them from breeding more Americans.

Unfortunately, America is at a point that to be able to really feel again, to regain that compassion, it needs to be invaded and occupied in the same way that we have invaded and occupied Iraq. Then there might be a greater chance that Americans will be more reluctant to accept the invasion of another country. Maybe seeing and feeling the same level of destruction that we have inflicted on Iraq, at least the American public will understand why invading another country is unconscionable except in the most dire circumstances - which means after that country has directly attacked the United States. And that has not happened since World War II. But I think they need to be sterilized just in case the lesson doesn't take

I dunno, I kinda agree with #10.

Can you believe someone said this on FARK?

Fark as a whole is truly a bastion of lunacy!!!!?!!

For all our faults, it really is a great place to live.

#1 on the list (Americans pay a huge amount of taxes and get much less in return than in other 1st world nations) is just flat out true.

When your #1 doesn't even manage to be loony, I'll just skip the rest. Enjoy the page hit.

gustakooka [TotalFark] 2009-01-09 09:49:43 AM
How could you make a Top Ten of the year? Every single page is filled with idiocy. That's like trying to put together a list of top ten stupid things Bush has said....all you really need is to listen to him for an hour, he will refresh that list.

FTA, #8: "Darth Cheney has made repeated promises to both the Saudi royals and the Israeli Likudists (in my minds ear) that America will destroy the energy capabilities of Iran, but to date, Darth has not been able to manufacture the impetus for it. My conspiracy theory is that a false flag attack on Obama, would inspire the shock and anger of the American people to give the green light for the mass bombing of Iran, perhaps including nukes."

You haven't seen posts like (a lot, in fact) that on Fark? Like someone else said Free Republic is much better in terms of nuttiness.

#2 is pretty close to true. #9 is clearly satirical. #5 was common speculation at the time (and this was before the fact that Palin's daughter was pregnant came out).

FTA:

#10 "You pay all these taxes but you don't want anything in return for it. You don't want free health care. You don't want time off of work. You don't want anything. You're not selfish enough"

#7 "Tony Snow was a co-conspirator in probably the largest know fraud ever perpetuated and executed on the American public by it's own elected executive branch....The precise reason Bush chose him was for his ability to so effectively lie and dance around tough questions that the American people demanded answers to."

#5 "But it appears that Palin's last child, a baby with Down's syndrome, may not be hers. It may be that of her teenage daughter.I'm not quite sure what to think of this. Seeing as how she opposes abortion even in cases of rape and incest maybe she's actually not a hypocrite...Normally I'd say this is a totally private issue for them, but seeing as how she's quite willing to butt into the private lives of every other American woman, I think it's fair game."

#3 "I truly believe that antiwar activists should focus our energies on military recruitment...Antiwar persons, especially youth, should contact their local recruiter and express interest in learning about the career opportunities that exist for them in the US military. They can schedule appointments, attend meetings, take tests, ask questions, whatever. The whole point would be to waste the recruiters' time and energy. An hour spent recruiting somebody who isn't interested is an hour not spent recruiting somebody who is interested."

I actually agree with and see the rationale in these four quotes.

9) "What if Obama is the second coming of Jesus Christ?

I'm not a religious person however I'd like to point out a funny irony that would be better suited for a cartoonist.

What if all of the religious nuts were bashing the second coming of their Christ and they didn't even know it? Fathered by a Kenyan Muslim profit who left after his task was done. To seed a woman who in the heartland of America(a country who "is losing its way"). Then takes him on a journey of awaking across the world, then back home to spread the word of the lord through a process of education an then actions in the community.

This is an absolute disgrace. All throughout 2008, the entire mainstream media was proclaiming Barack Obama as the second coming of Jesus Christ.
The TRUTH of the matter is that Jesus died a long time ago and will be back to judge. We will not praise any false prophets and expect to be redeemed.

Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves

Rev 1:5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us, and washed us from our sins by his blood;

Rev 1:6 and he made us to be a kingdom, priests to his God and Father; to him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever.

So, let me see if I have this straight: "news," as defined by one blog that includes "News" in its name, also now includes commenting on what a fellow blogger did the past year that you didn't like?

honest question here, when Jesus comes back to judge, how are you going to know it's him? Is it going to be really obvious or will it require a leap of faith, like it did the last time he was around? Not trolling, just curious.

You're an outlier and you know it.

It's like me pointing to successful, female, fighter pilots as evidence as female suitability for the armed forces.

Some of those comments were just loony toons.

And I agree with Nero Kalem about some of those comments. Although I don't consider wanting "free" health care "selfish," like the commenter said. We pay an assload in taxes (so it's not free in the first place), the government should most certainly find a way to provide health care for it's citizens.

They left off the one where I'd asked that a number of conservative commentators be lined up on their knees in front of a trough and have their throats slashed, and have the trough empty into the ocean.

cchris_39 2009-01-09 10:16:48 AM
Ok so the meter is "facist" - I guess because someone dared criticize the mighty Kos? Certainly not for the content of the article, which does nothing more than quote their extreme leftist views.

Then, the comments are a hodgepodge of apologists saying kill the messenger, there are extremists on both sides, and I actully agree with x, y, and z.

I'd like to put these face to face with 10 comments from just one week of 2008 from Free Republic. If anyone knows that you can't judge a site based on what commenters write, it should be Fark.

Num 12:6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.

Deu 18:21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?

Deu 18:22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

1 Cor 14:32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
1 Cor 14:37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.

tboucher 2009-01-09 10:20:16 AM
speaking as someone who hasn't voted for a republican yet, I think daily kos is nothing but a cesspool of lunatics and doesn't represent the real ideas behind true liberalism at all.

So the political meter is busted, the article in question isn't fascist at all.

It's not the gun banning preventing the revolution, it's the comfy couches and teevees!
