If the cancer still exists, you continue to fight it. The brits started this by puting the Jews where they are in the first place. (Read up on the Balfour treaties if you're ignorant). The palestinians take pot shots at the jews causing them to get angry, and rightfully so. Anyone who tries to justify the palestinian aggression has to be a troll. you can compare the deaths and injuries on both sides all day but it's immaterial. If I am attacked, I will retaliate ten fold as a punitive measure and increase my response until the aggression stops.

schadenfreudian, a couple of thoughts for you:

1) What you have a right to do does not necessarily equate to "what is the right thing to do." There are three levels of conflict resolution: force, law, and restorative justice. Force is the least of these, and law (which often requires force) is little better.

2) "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." ~ Gandhi This cycle of violence between Israel and Palestine has never stopped due to an exercise of violent force by one side or the other. Why would the use of force change that dynamic now?

A Shambling Mound 2009-01-09 09:06:08 AM
Well, good for Israel.

Farking Canuck 2009-01-09 09:06:31 AM
My guess is that the Israelis spend the cease-fire periods figuring out where all their next targets will be (weapons caches, Hamas leaders, etc.) So when they do go on the offensive they hit all of these targets.

They will accept a cease fire when their list is done.

/if they are going to get bad publicity for going on the offense, they might as well hit every target they know about

1) Raise your family to be successful

4) Have a well funded PR department that can spin child killing into a positive experience for all.
5) Come up with stupid slogans to make you seem even more righteous, like "all is far in love and war" or some sort of reference to poking a hornets nest, etc, etc. People eat that shiat up.

Meh, that list could go on forever. Both sides are murdering each other for nothing. Same shiat, every day.

BTW, Milkbeer, you mean Palestinians, right, not Muslims? Because if you had meant Palestinians, the ones actually involved in this mess, your post wouldn't look so bigoted.

Well good luck with the restorative justice. Since the Palistinians won't accept anything short of Palistine being completley restored justifiably, and the jews won't accept anything short of a jew controlled international safe-haven. *and who could blame them?* The only thing that will restore peace is if both sides say 'screw it, you get this we get this and we'll both live with it AND enforce it within our own populations.'

Like omg I totally agree with you. Like, people who think throwing bombs into another country every day is an act of agression or ignoring a cease-fire agreement is a total square.

schadenfreudian:

that's a funny cartoon, but not entirely true. if that star of david had exploded and killed that man's family and neighbors, it might be more accurate. but then it wouldn't be as funny, would it?

here's the deal: hamas is a terrorist organization and deserves to be wiped out. but israel's response has been grossly disproportionate and is only making hamas stronger while escalating the arab/israeli conflict.

at some point, somebody has to be the first to stop - but at this point, both sides are too farking pig-headed to do it.

personally, i think the new administration should cut off all funding to BOTH sides the moment it's sworn in until a ceasefire is reached.
