Well, the first error is thinking politicians have such elements. The Founders knew they wouldn't, that's why they wanted government officials to no more relevant than transit workers. But NOOOooooooo, that didn't stay that way.

I would say getting preferable loans while overseeing committees that hold oversight is not that ethical.

FTFA:

All the more so because former Countrywide Financial loan officer Robert Feinberg told us last fall that Mr. Dodd knowingly saved thousands of dollars on his refinancing of two properties in 2003 as part of a special program for the influential. Mr. Feinberg also reported that he has internal company documents that prove Mr. Dodd knew he was getting preferential treatment as a friend of Angelo Mozilo, Countrywide's then-CEO, and Mr. Feinberg has offered to provide those documents to investigators.

Why not give them to the WSJ for this article?

NO. Completely fabricated. The WSJ used to be half-way respectable. In the pocket of the powerful sure, but at least respectable.

Its the fukking National Enquirer of the right wing these days.

Let's move on.

Then you can thank me for my time.

"See, I don't care what you think or say, I'm asking about the actual law or guidelines. Anything?"

Here's what I think, for what it's worth. I think he did nothing wrong. I think he had no idea whatsoever he got special treatment; that he reasonably thought that borrowers with his amount of equity normally got better rates because that's the economically sensible thing for mortgage companies to do - even though they weren't at the time.

But the fact remains that Mozillo. a contributor and a guy with business before the committee, told his people to give Dodd the 'gold treatment' or whatever the phrase was.

I also think a guy with Dodd's seniority should know that covering up non-misdeeds has been the downfall of more politicians than any actual misdeeds (a lesson the Bushies, pere and fis, never learned).

He should do what he said he'd do, take the week's bad press, get cleared and, as they say, move on.

Orange Crush: Most liberals/ Obama supporters probably don't know who Chris Dodd is. That's why this thread is DOA...Dead on Arrival.

Certainly not because there's nothing here other than unfounded accusations that not even Chris Dodds Republican political enemies would jump on.

Nope, not at all. I mean, when you can't even count on your political enemies to go after you when it's clear that you have "blood on your hands" (metaphorically speaking) then it's obvious that ...

Ah hell, crap I can't even keep up the sarcasm on this one.

If he's guilty of something, anything than you must believe one of the following things:

1) He has naked photos of every single Republican politician sodomizing a 17 year old male page.

or

2) The Illuminati are preventing "The Truth" from coming out in order to protect one of their own.

So... which one is it?

Off the top of my head, Dod probably violated some ethics guidelines (and maybe an ethics law or two) by not disclosing the portion of his discounts as gifts. He also likely violated federal tax law by not declaring the gifts as income (or a portion of them).

Speaking as a government regulator, if I got a special deal with any of the companies I regulate for no good reason other than I was a friend of the executives, I'd be shown the door with no two weeks notice and no severance.

He's got nothing to hide? Then open the books.

I easily exposed the hypocrisy on this forum by observing that if Dodd was Palin or any Republican, this thread would have 400 posts by now. Instead it's probably not going to hit 50. Dodd or Democrat caught in something that appears illegal or unethical...yawn...no big deal. Another thread smearing Palin, Ann Coulter, Limbaugh, etc please.

Well considering the last Palin thread has less than 300 comments and "any republican" will certainly encompass the Abraham Lincoln thread with less than 60 your prediction sort of sucks. Limbaugh has not even had a thread in a week. Where Coulter is concerned you may have a point.

So far the only thing you have exposed is your ability to not predict crap, nice try sparky

I also seem to remember the epic 200+ post threads on John McCain when there was mention he used his wife's private plane. That too was not against regulations, but brought up the question of ethics.

You don't need a "what if" illustration. There are years of evidence of rabid partisan hypocrisy led by a regular group of pa-Trolling tools acting like liberal fascists on Fark already.

Fark political forums act like a living petri dish of partisan douche-bag hypocrisy and mindless hacks biatching about Republicans, calling anyone who points out their obvious biased hate rhetoric a neocon while screaming "b-bb-bbbut Bush!" or some similar claptrap.

The same stupid farktard trolls hang around having a partisan hate fest circle-jerk daily like a gange of retarded "Liberal Freepers".
