J. Jonah Jameson was too classy to go with the guilt-by-association attacks before, but now...

Yoweigh [TotalFark] 2009-01-08 12:18:58 PM
Wait, does that fist-jab mean that both Obama and Spidey are terrorists?!?!

What's wrong with "paling around" with Spiderman?

Any Bonehead: What's wrong with "paling around" with Spiderman?

The media (The Daily Bugle, specifically) frowns upon Spidey's vigilantism, so this would be just another example of The Secret Muslim palling around with terrorists.

Man, whose drawing Spiderman these days? Terrible. What's with the extreme jawline?

Not to mention the Obama in the interior panels look nothing like him.
The cover is better; probably because it was photo-referenced.

As a rabid liberal, I would like to say that there is funny.

Does this mean he beat Colbert for POTUS in the Marvel Universe? I want a recount!

Theaetetus 2009-01-08 03:07:04 PM
Hmmm... Head-to-toe outfit, covering the face completely... Spidey's a Muslim woman?

FTFA: "I expect this will be on the collectors' market for $20 by the first day."

People are dumb.

Wait, Didn't Colbert win the Marvel election?

Seriously, I thought I heard something about that,

Its crap like this that made me stop reading Spider-Man. Well, mainly One More Day/Brand New Day. But this is also dumb.

//And stay the hell away from Ultimate Spider-Man.

put him in the Marvel Zombies universe and you wouldn't even have to alter his appearance

Things were looking good for him, but then the Supreme Court stepped in and issued their decision in Colbert v. Obama to stop the recounts, relying on precedent from Bush v. Gore.

Yes indeed, even Marvel gets political now instead of just writing interesting stories.

"We do our best to be completely non-partisan and treat presidents with respect," Quesada says.

Save the pants, the shoes are lost... Cause it's getting deep in here.

Wizzin 2009-01-08 03:17:47 PM
What the hell is up with that artwork? I had no idea that Spidey was an Asgard.

NYZooMan 2009-01-08 03:18:12 PM
SO I guess the Weathermen are safe form Spiderman now.

Get the adulation in now.
He might not be the disgraceful disaster Bush II was but he won't have a corrupt and complicit corporate media basing their coverage on Rupert Murdoch's tax returns either.

That seems like you are reading into it a bit too much. I can understand wanting super heroes separate from politics.

Your entire post, from your nickname to the very last sentence had me laugh big.

That is proof of why I love fark.

For $3.99, I just pre-bought my copy at my local shop. You should do the same.

Wow, the President Elect fist-bumped Spiderman and there are people complaining. Get off your high horses, this is this most objectively awesome thing I have seen since The Dark Knight.

Colbert totally won! Fake election was rigged!

secularsage 2009-01-08 03:28:08 PM
Wow, the guys at Marvel at getting good at being attention whores. It's too bad that they don't correct their central problem -- crummy, overpriced, badly-drawn books that aren't relevant or very interesting to today's readers -- instead of spending their time marketing flash-in-the-pan ideas.

And Joe Quesada gushing that Obama is a "comic book geek"? That's just gratuitous.

After the Stephen Colbert/Spiderman special, anything after has been a let down.

Actually a Zombie Reagan vs Obama would be pretty cool, it ends with Zombie Reagan realizing that GW has destroyed everything he worked to create so he eats Bush's brains and dies of starvation.

That's gold right there.

Not at all. I'm quite aware of the effect that The Death of Superman had on the industry. And I'm not even a comic book collector. I am a political collector in the sense that I collect items from significant historical events (going back about 50 years) and for the price, how could I not include it?

The article didn't mention W appearing in Ultimate X-Men (in which he strips naked and kisses Magneto's boots) and Ultimates (in which he welcomes Captain America to the 21st Century).

And the Clintons showed up in one of the post-Doomsday "Funeral for a Friend" Superman comics, giving a eulogy or something.
