James72: I'm guessing that half of the "unusual" dog and cat names were picked out by toddlers with parents that can't say "No. That's a stupid name. Pick something else."

Letting the little snowflakes name the cat "Pizza" or "Taco" because that's their favorite food...

Pooper
Peeper
Pep
Pepperoni
Pepper von Pooperstien
Pepperdactyl

//those are the ones I'm getting off the top of my head

We usually called our dog Shadow "Shadface" or "Shad-for-brains".

\My personal kitty: Harleyquinn

The dog's name is Tripp but he's rarely called that. His nicks are:
Shiat-for-brains
Herr Doofenheim
Doofus
Shiat bag
dammitgetthehelloutoftheway
farkin' dog
Trippers
Needy thing

He's a big wuss, but we love him.

our cat is named Designer Kitty. he was named by my husband's ex from before we met, because the all-black kitten went well with her all-black designer furniture.

we usually just call him "Kitty" or "Guy" but it doesn't matter any more because he's gone completely deaf. he's 18 and hyperthyroid. still eats like a pig and poops like a champion (sadly, not in his box too often, but usually on the linoleum).

TypoFlyspray 2009-01-07 03:07:10 PM
Mine:
Grey Tabby - Dustbunny
Siamese - Cobweb
Mackerel Tabby - Michael Michael Motorcycle (named after a guy I knew when I was like 5)
Dead Mackerel Tabby - Matilda the Hun
Grey & White Megacat - Angel (Came with the name)

(Wanted to do Silverfish and Mildew to keep the filth theme going, but the Mrs. wasn't having it. Her cats tend to be named "Kitty", so I usurped the naming rights.)

Next Female Cat: Miss Thang.

Dog: Thor, the Thunderpuppy (a Norwegian Elkhound. Should have gone with Loki instead, then maybe he wouldn't be afraid of thunderstorms.)

srewolf 2009-01-07 03:08:47 PM
I had a cat named Tigger (I know, so original) but we just called him Evil, because he was. He wasn't the type to run away from people so they usually thought he was like a normal friendly, purring kitty. I had to warn them to pet him at their own risk. Chances are he was going to draw blood one way or another.

That doesn't bother me. If the kids want to call the dog "Pizza", what's the big deal? He'll probably end up with a bunch of nicknames later (as has been evidenced by other comments) and it becomes a slightly embarrassing story you can tell about your kids. It's not like their naming their new brother and sister "Pizza".

Nah, everytime my 9 year old tries to name something, it's always something very uncreative like Joe or Bob or Gary.

A guy I work with let his kids name his cat. It is now called "Professor Pizza Pie." His kids were teenagers. And I don't have a job.

When we adopt cats in my family, we try to keep the cat names as close to the shelter names as possible to they'll still recognize the sound of us calling them.

My cat's shelter name was "Makyla" (Ma-KYE-luh) so I just shortened it to Mac.

and she comes every time I call her.

Three boy monsters with silly names...

The first is Bakemono. His name is Japanese for "monster" because he is one. He is a longhaired black and gray tabby cat.

The second, a stray who adopted us, is Fakemono. He looked enough like Bakemono to trick us into letting him in. Then he just kinda stayed.

The third, another stray trying to move in, is Spotsamono. He looks like Bakemono...only with spots instead of stripes.

We have a cat named Puck because he is a mischeivious little elf. We often call him other things though, which I shan't reproduce here, except for "The Puckster."

Incidentally he is small and black and also resembles a hockey or espresso puck. But it's exactly that: incidental.

cambie: You crazy cat people. I've been tempted to unsubscribe from Fark so I don't have to ignore Caturday threads for 4 or 5 days prior to every Saturday.

No offense to Drew or everyone else here but if your so TF that have to force yourself to not read a thread you already know don't want to look at, you may have farking issues. I recommend getting involved in some activities outside of fark for few hours. Try something like model building, tractor pulls, needle-point, masturbating, watching TV, calling a loved one (and not to tell them about something on fark), clean the gunk out of your mouse, go for the high score in the game of Drink or maybe just NOT click on the farking link!

Before you know it, your green, horn ridden troll skin will start to clear up and you can start enjoying fark again like the rest of the people that don't read every single line, regardless of whether it is relevant to them or not.

Petey4335: Marley'sGirl: Obviously this writer needs to watch a little more ATHF. Meatwad is a great name!

My dog is named Marley (after Bob)

The cats are Trance, Echo and Pulse.

Good, I'm not the only one with a Zoo

Dog's name (nick): Spunky (Slurpie) & Smokey (joe)
Cat's name (nick): Apophis (poofy), Anubis (Noobz), Osiris ('siris)

I would love another dog, but I just know that when I say I have 2 dogs and 3 cats people will look at me like I'm insane. I got two kittens from the rescue last summer. I was only getting one, but the calico looked so sad. I'm just happy to be able to give them all a home.

When I was young, my family rescued a grey cat. We were all alergic to it and decided it really needed to go back to the humane society. Then we learned that a woman down the street placed cats for people and did all sorts of background checks, which made us relieved because we really loved that cat. Except my brother.

When we dropped off the cat, my brother told the lady that the cat's name was "Dog Head". She said, "That is an interesting name!"

When I said goodbye to the cat, I noticed that my brother had purchased a pink collar tag and had "Dog Head" etched on it. He would always go that extra mile.

I have 1 cat named kitty but apparantly that wasn't creative enough so the next one was named princess fuzzypaws. we now just call her kitters. Kitters is a combination of kitty and my grandfathers name for any cat...titters. Male or female it didn't matter the cat's name was titters.

We had a cat named, "Edward Scissorclaws" (ya, rly!), who recently passed away at the ripe old age of 18 (or so -- he was a stray that adopted us). When he was younger, he could accidentally and unintentionally slice open your appendages like you wouldn't believe. He was also diabetic for the last four years, and we had to give him insulin shots twice a day.

We miss that poo generator.
