guys,

You're older than I am. Give it up, shut it down, enjoy your grandkids and start supporting new talent.

love,

those of us who know better.

Not likely considering they still get more pussy than a caturday thread.

who *buys* that crap?

I hate all their albums, except "Rocks" and "Toys in the attic"

but "Rocks" is a freakin' masterpiece.

Looks like we've reached the stage where it's okay to recycle old Stones jokes into new Aerosmith jokes.

Hooray for scrawny, preening, craggy, big-lipped old singers.

Their best work.

/"Combination" FTW!

They should take a permanent vacation and just play with their toys in the attic.

Yeah, yeah I know...dream on.

Since when is Jay Leno submitting headlines to Fark?

KingGeegers 2009-01-06 06:54:30 PM
In 2004 Aerosmith put out Honkin' on Bobo, so headline should read ...back in the studio for first album of new original material since 2001.

Of course that also would be a lie since everything they put out after Permanent Vacation sounds exactly the same.

Valdes 2009-01-06 07:17:52 PM
Aerosmith has 4 great albums

Pump (except for that shiatty Jamie song-but hey it was the 80s)
Permanent Vacation (except for that shiatty Angel song-but hey it was the 80s)
Rocks
Toys in the Attic

Damn straight. They're one of those bands who peaked early and had some awesome tunes out of the gate.

Age gracefully, sometimes it's best to quit while you are a head.

Very big A-smith fan. I'm Quoting This For Truth. I'd add GYW to that list, and maybe lose PV, though. Funny thing is, I rather like Jamie and Angel so my opinion may be worth shiat.

There was an article submitted last week about best comebacks. This band should have been atop that list, for both sales and quality of new music. Some might say it's sacrilege to compare the two, but I think Pump was almost as good as Rocks. What other band has had two similar peaks in their career?

I thought half of JPP was good and am on the fence whether or not they should continue making rock/pop. Maybe sticking to the blues is best at this point...

Another band that got crappy when they sobered up. Died when they recorded that Diane Warren travesty. Merely walking dead now. Just Push Play exemplified the absence of any soul/life in that band. The music video for the Santana-Tyler collabortion is outright hysterical, though.

My favorite Aerosmith song. (new window) Well technically not their song, but a great kick ass live version.

if steven tyler and joe perry had a reality show, i have a feeling it would look exactly like "absolutely fabulous" only without the stoli.

As in an abortion of a collaboration, or you just can't spell? I'm hoping for the former, as pretty much anything Aerosmith related past the 1980s is a big steaming extra-lumpy bowl of abortion chowder.

With Kalodner retired and no longer rejecting albums from his bands that aren't cookie-cutter shiat, maybe we'll get something interesting out of Aerosmith this time.

/fingers crossed

FredGarvin 2009-01-07 03:08:19 AM
Funny thing. after they sobered up, they could finally put on a decent show live, but couldn't come up with any new stuff that didn't suck.

xdedd, you know it was Steve Hunter that did the guitar work on the album version? Perry was too farked up/incompetent to pull it off, so they pulled a dr. midnight on him.

I love their first five albums.

Already Disturbed 2009-01-07 07:19:23 AM
AgentOrangeDrink, I was considering putting in a note that it was deliberate; it's a term that doesn't get nearly enough play.

The only thing that will make me ever respect Aerosmith again is if they go on tour and ONLY play stuff from Aerosmith through Night In the Ruts.

Face it guys, you're an oldies act. The stuff from before 1980 is all anybody really ever gave a shiat about. And YOU DON'T NEED ANY MORE MONEY. How about facing up to that fact, and just doing a tour where you give people what they want? Nevermind the goddamn teenage-girl contingent of your fanbase. I wanna hear goddamn Draw the Line.

Speaking of...
I got my wife the GH:AS for xmas and brought that plus GH3 to her parent's house. Her sister's husband was there and wanted to watch as I threw on "One". He goes, "that must be an easy song, theres only like three notes in it"

lolz

Aerosmith High-paid songwriters gets back in studio begin churning out radio-friendly crap for first album since 2001 "Just Push Play." New album tentatively titled "Just Push My Wheelchair Pay Me"

coffeeplease 2009-01-07 10:13:18 AM
Their newer studio work does not compare to early Aerosmith but I saw them this summer and they brought the rock.

TheSup3rN0va 2009-01-07 10:13:43 AM
They've been "in the studio" for about 2 1/2 years now. They're going on tour around March without finishing it and charging $150 for the same show they've been putting on for about 7 years. Easy to hate this band until you listen to their old stuff.

(Granted, it was mostly covers, but it was a studio album.)

My thoughts exactly. I am a huge (pre Rock in a Hard Place) Aerosmith fan. It would be hard to find a string of albums that good outside of the Rolling Stones. Since then, they've just churned out homogenized, corporate, radio-friendly corporate rock. Although I do dig Let the Music Do the Talking from Done With Mirrors. The Joe Perry Project version is even better. It's sad that so many great bands lose their edge and qualities that made them great once they get hugely successful. I understand all that "growing as musicians" bullshiat, but recording the same ballad like AngelCryingCrazy over and over is pretty lame. Sad.

"Honkin on Bobo." One of the worst album titles ever. It's embarrassing just typing it.

After I read the description, I could already predict the comments that would be on here:

The "You guys are so old why don't you give it up" routine.

The "They haven't been good since (album name here)" routine.

The "That band sucks" routine.

Did I miss any?
