For those of us that have never heard of this guy, is he just an insulting douchbag or terminally stupid as well.?

He writes some great stuff. "Rio Grande Blood" is outstanding.
If he says this is the best stuff he has put out, I will definitely be checking it out.

I think with Senior Bush saying Jeb Bush would make a good pres, it left Al Jourgensen with no choice but to come back.

Al has been around since the 80s. You've probably heard of Ministry. He's kinda sort of one of the main guys in the whole Industrial music thing from the late 80s, early 90s time frame.

It's a good album. I don't think Al had much to do with it, actually - it's mostly the work of the three new guys.

For the record, Steve Albini is what Al Jourgensen would be if he had more sack and talent.

What would be the point of turning RevCo into a watered-down franchise when Pigface already exists?

/ fan of the first few Pigface albums
// they were great the first time I saw them in late 92, and holy crap WOW did they suck thereafter, once the band became a revolving-door cast of people Martin Atkins had had a beer with
// Newcastle Brown Ale is hardly a beer worth devoting a liner note to, Mr. Brain.

I get quite a few more hits for "Al Jourgensen + terminally stupid" than "Al Jourgensen + insulting douchebag".

I'm gonna have to go with stupid as the reason he cannot distinguish between a boy band, that replaces it's members when they get too old, a performance art group where the individual members are irrelevant and a "franchise".

I don't know about that. The last couple of Ministry albums and tours have been a blast. A REVCO show is just about as fun a night out (of you remain conscious) as you can have.

I'm not sure what you found random about it. Some rock star made an insulting comment about an organization that has always been very good to me and I responded in kind.

My insult was very specific. Nothing random about it at all.

Sherjo311 2009-01-06 07:42:45 PM
it pisses me off that al won't bring ministry back. it's not like they're some big mainstream band that just milks its fans out of their money when they put out shows and albums. we actually like to listen to it as opposed to just popping it in every once in a while.

and for all you ministry lovers claiming which album was genius, the debate is already over -

It's Revolting Cocks subby. And having it as a franchise isn't so far off, Pigface is pretty much a franchise.

And I love how RevCo got Robin Zander and Rick Nielsen from Cheap Trick on their album in 2006.

You didn't really make it clear that you had anything to do with either organization, for one thing, and I'm unclear how what he said insults either group even with that information...

I have an... advanced copy... of Sex-O, and it's "pretty good." As a long, long standing Ministry fan, Al is notorious for claiming that every album he releases is his best work, so take his statement with a grain of salt about the size of a Buick.

Sex-O is much more electronic than the last couple Ministry albums, so if you were disappointed (as many were) to watch Ministry turn into a thrash band, you'll like most of the music on this album, with a couple exceptions that kind of channel T-Rex. However, the lyrics are incredibly juvenile (even for a Cocks album), so that kind of flattened out the appeal to me a bit. Abundant Redundancy and Wizard of Sextown are the two stand-out tracks in my opinion.

I think comparing BMG with Menudo was meant as an insult but I do see where I could be wrong. (I often am)

Either way I think he will survive my insult.

the last 3 albums were good, but really didn't live up to the promise of Animositisomina. but I guess that's better than them almost breaking up after DsotS.

All of the Al haters can suck it. Saw Minsitry with RevCo back in Austin a couple of years ago and that show farking rocked. Saw Ministry last May in Munich and that show kicked ass too. Hope RevCo makes it over to Germany cuz if they do I'm there.

This might be worth a listen then. I favor the electronic stuff far more than the thrash-y. Don't get me wrong, Ministry plays a great show (that lasted for 3 encores last time I saw them) but this will be a welcome return. I did love the remixes that Atkins and Jourgensen did on the Gravity Kills album "Manipulated", random but so enjoyable.

I bought that CD around the The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste time frame. I saw it in the bin and went "oooh, haven't seen this before".

I have never before or since thrown a CD into a brick wall in order to shatter it into a million pieces. Terrible.

Man, I've loved nearly everything Al has ever had a hand in, but this new RevCo album is just drivel. The one cool track is "I'm Not Gay" which was previously heard before shows on Ministry's C U LaTour. The rest is crap. The last RevCo CD was OK through about the first 5 tracks and then it turned into faux-industrial diarrhea (listen to the track "Jack In The Crack" for proof).

Fark what I wouldn't give to hear something from RevCo as cool as "Something Wonderful" or "Stainless Steel Providers". Without Chris Connelly though, I know I never will.

/Al, you burned too many bridges
