Good luck. Colorado's Ski Safety Act is pretty ironclad in its protection of the ski resorts. He might be able to sue the lift manufacturer and extract a nuisance-value settlement, but beyond that, don't count on a big payday from a ski accident in Colorado.

Perhaps you can explain why the lift had folding seats in the first place? I've ridden chair lifts before, and the seats were always fixed.
