Umm... so by the time they actually agree for big release, everyone who actually wanted Beatles downloads will already have them by other means, thus exponentially reducing the income they could have had.

Brilliant!

Yes, because we've never seen Beatles' mp3's.

There are two types of bands in the world: Those that are making money from people downloading their music, and those that aren't.

Notable members of the latter group are AC/DC and the Beatles.

If that rat bastard Steve Jobs didn't steal the name "Apple" we could all be paying high prices for Beatles songs. He also stole the "iphone" name too.

Why are people still obsessed with the Beatles?

Let's slow down and look at this objectively...

Were they influential? Yes. For exactly the same reason JFK kicked Nixon's ass in 1960. It's all about TV. And getting booked on Ed Sullivan with a "really great shooooow" catapulted them into stardom and musical mediocrity.

Were they good musicians? Hell no.

Three chords do not a musician make.

A music teacher dissing The Beatles. Nice.

Rubber Soul, Let It Be, Sgt. Pepper's...Very well the greatest band in pop\rock history.
Over 100 million records sold. 12 of 14 albums going #1.

I don't care for Mozart, but I don't question the brilliance.

You're a complete idiot.

If you think that the Beatles songs only ever used three chords, then it's pretty obvious that you've not actually LISTENED to the Beatles beyond the early moptop stuff(and even some of that was more sophisticated than other pop bands of the era).

Why is it that music that is so old can still be copyrighted anyway? The original intent of copyright was that you should be paid for your creative works, sure, but if you want to keep being paid, you have to keep creating. Copyright was rather limited at first, but as our government turned into more and more of a plutocracy, it kept getting extended into near infinity.

Ah, right. The Beatles have finally gone digital. This is in stark comparison to all of those analog compact discs that have been in stores for at least 20 years.

The point that you miss is that they were great songwriters. There are thousands of great musicians, but they're stuck playing Beatles songs in some bar because they can't write great songs.

The Ox was a great bass player, but we never would have known it if it weren't for Pete Townshend's songwriting.

Earguy [TotalFark] 2009-01-06 08:06:48 AM
You want free Beatles in your iPod?

Get your Beatles CDs...you know, the ones that you bought to replace your Beatles cassettes that replaced your Beatles 8tracks that you bought since you couldn't play your Beatles records in the car...Rip CDs to your hard drive.

Now, look at all the money you saved!

Go to the Pirate Bay and download all their albums in lossless quality to your hard drive.

FTFY. Although I'm big on supporting the artist, half the band is dead and I doubt Macca or Ringo need your money at this point anyway. Instead, you fuel the aged monster that is the RIAA.

Don't contribute to the RIAA.

That's a pretty solid 7/10 there. Good job! Perfect baiting, and oh boy, they bit.

I actually own virtually every Beatles album ever made (on CDs). But I happened to find a one-stop discography @ 320kps, and I thought, "well, I can spend all of that time ripping and tagging my legal stuff, or I can just click this button once."

If I didn't already have the Cds, I sure as hell wouldn't pay for a god-awful 128 AAC copy of something as genius as Abbey Road. I mean, it's like the legit companies are ENTICING you to go out and steal. They don't even have the courtesy to offer a decent farking product, let alone one that can be played on any player, etc. Amazon is the only one approaching anything that isn't totally batshiat crazy.

It explains why you are a failed musician who now teaches if you talk about simplicity in music as if it was a bad thing

That is *ALL* you need. 3 chords And the truth

/That depends. IIRC, he's borrowed north of $700 Million against the music catalogues he owns (Primarily Beatles, but many others as well). And then he decided to spend even more than that on trinkets and legal fees.

//So, essentially, his lenders will own the rights as he continues forward into bankruptcy

Hugo Zorilla 2009-01-07 01:22:39 PM
Ah.

Thanks for explaining.
