That's the spin. The actual story is that they can't even give it away.

True story, at the beer thingie where they were demonstrating their fresh beer versus skunked beer in a blind taste test everyone at the table preferred the skunked beer over their fresh samples.

That sucks. I had two free beers at busch gardens last week. They weren't the greatest, but the lines for free beer was longer than any of the lines for the roller coasters that day.

I have taken that taste test, and I was one of the people who preferred the skunked beer.

The guy who was running it asked me if I liked drinking lots of "foreign beers," and said that it was typically people who liked their beer "really hoppy" who enjoyed the "abused beer" he was serving (he didn't call it skunked, he called it abused).

Well, there's one less reason to go to Busch Gardens.
They no longer serve my favorite brand of beer (Free)

Hmmm, there goes the appeal for renewing my 2 park SeaWorld/Busch Gardens Annual Pass.

Kid Lester 2009-01-05 02:17:29 PM
The best thing about Busch Gardens is the ability to purchase beer every hundred yards or so. I don't care about free. Just make with the refill.

ah always my answer when girls at our fraternity parties would ask what kind of beer we were serving.

Free.

Noooo! I'm going there in a couple weeks :( Every year, we'd go, and I'd get double the allowed beers, since my g/f doesn't like beer. Roller coaster riding while tipsy is the best :(

Those people don't know good beer, period. They just equate that skunk taste to the Heineken or the Grolsch that their buddies said is good beer, but it's been in the small-town cooler for far too long and it's gone bad, but they don't know any better and choke it down and think this must be what good beer is. Hoppy != skunky. Don't give me that skunky shiat. I'd rather have a cheap Old Style in a can than a $9 bottle of skunk.

i hope the price of my park pass will go down because of this. free beers were one of the best reasons to go to busch gardens

I'm a beer snob and all, too, but who gives a fark if it's free? Just get lots of amber boch or black & tans.

Did they still have the free fresh bread? Ever since the one in Houston closed a million years ago I haven't even seen a Busch theme park.

Busch Gardens' hospitality center in Tampa will close at the end of January.

You might still have time

Hopefully you weren't blindfolded, so you could see if there were any floatie white bits in that 'abused' beer.

granted it's not everyone's cup of tea but to say "that they can't even give it away" is pure unadulterated horseshiat.

Fairly certain the "cant give it away" statement was in reference to the blind taste test where the skunked beer won out.

That aside, certain pop music artists make vast sums of money. The human capacity for sucking up garbage because commercials say "It's good" is certainly amazing. Your implied defense of bud light is living proof that people can sell carbonated horse piss and make a huge profit.

I'm considering eating a lot of taco bell later, crapping it into cans and peddling it as American Stout. Think it'd do well?

The free beer was the only thing that made me feel better after i found out I was too fat to fit on some of the roller coaster rides...

tertletertle 2009-01-05 02:33:18 PM
The free beer is actually why I hated going to Busch Gardens as a kid. After a week at Disney World, we'd drive to Tampa where I'd have to stand around and look at all of the kids having fun on the rides and in the animal exhibits while I waited for my Grandpa who had to stop at all of Hospitality Tents to "sample" the beer. Nothing is worse for a 10-year-old than being in a theme park and having to stand around in a beer tent.

Busch Gardens / Seaworld have seats on all their big coasters for large riders. On Kumba and Montu, it's one of the center seats on row 4 and 5. On Sheikra, it's the third seat from either end on all three rows. Basically, they put the big people over the center of gravity on the cars. This sucks because I'm just big enough to have to use those chairs, but it's better than being told I can't ride.

They only serve it at the hospitality center, which is kind of out of the way in Busch Gardens Tampa. they limit you to two a day and the lines can be long, but go quick since they don't have to do anything except pour the drink.

soupergenyus 2009-01-05 02:42:14 PM
FTFA: "The hospitality centers had pretty limited appeal because it was for patrons who were of legal drinking age who wanted beer," he said. "We were looking for something that had a broader age appeal."

Because we all know free beer has limited appeal. This, just might possibly, be an excuse to make a profit on the beer.

Real American Genius, here's to you Ms. Roller Coaster Vomit Cleaner Guy. You invented the stick with a rag dipped in sawdust stuff. Can't get at that coughed up piece of sausage because it's wedged in a tight place? Not for you. So crack open an ice cold Bud Light, the awful taste will help get the smell of digested meat out of your schnoze.

/I love those commercials, sigh.

Wow, did not know that.

Then again I did the whole 'ran away in shame' rather than 'demand larger seat' deal.

BlorfMaster: Then again I did the whole 'ran away in shame' rather than 'demand larger seat' deal.

They have signs up, but they are small and easy to miss. As for the specific chair, it's the one that has two seat belts on it instead of one. Seaworld has one for Kraken, and Busch Gardens Williamsburg does on their big coasters, too. (I forget their coaster names because I tend to go where it's warm, not cold.)

So your reason that it is the best is that since it is the most available it must be the best?
Do you think McDonalds has the best burger in the world? well they sell the most!!!!

Back in the day....

I grew up in Tampa and in elementary school we visited the brewery at Busch Gardens on a friggin' field trip so we could learn about manufacturing. Imagine doing THAT today. We also toured the cigar factories in Ybor City.

My parents and friends/relatives used to love Busch Gardens because they served huge cups and it was all you could drink. When I was finally of age they stamped your hand and gave you a urine sample cup size. I guess the asshats in the world screwed it up for the rest of us.

When a college student in Tampa back in the 70s, I used to get free beer from the old Schlitz brewery near the Busch brewery, then go to CDB's Pizza for more free beer (had no license to sell, so they gave it away while asking for donations). All while only 18 when drinking was legal and sex was safe.

/Good times.
