It takes a lot of DPS and a well-geared off tank down Kraftwerk.

Why must Canada be so far from Latin America? They got nicer weather, crazy drugs and farkin Kraftwerk and Radiohead on the same night. Bring this show to the cold, white north!

Best opening act I saw: Sting. He and his band were good.

Radiohead snags electronica pioneer Kraftwerk to support their spring tour, also to save on lighting costs actual musical talent as the sheer whiteness crappiness of both bands is enough to cause temporary blindness unpleasant nausea to fans people sitting in the first 8 rows through any part of the entire concert, no matter where they sit

My first experience of Kraftwerk was my Uncle lending me his LP copy of "Radioactivity" [Capitol records, purple lable, white or silver writing --- might be the first edition of the USA version]
it was pretty weird but oddly captivating. one or two of the songs just don't do it for me tho... too annoying.

years later, I found a budget-priced 90's LP re-issue and i bought it.

I also have "autobahn" and "trans europe express" on CD. [the latter, i think is their best one]
i used to have "the man machine" on cd, but it sucked so I sold it.

p.s. protip: putting the title track of "autobahn" on while driving in your car somehow makes the drive seem a lot shorter...
well for me anyway.

I saw Radiohead at All Points West. I didn't give a damn to wait around all day for Radiohead, I was too busy dancing at Girl Talk at another stage and managed to get a good spot for Radiohead anyway. For the record, I would've fallen asleep for Radiohead if I were not standing.

But another great electronic act in Underworld was on the stage before Radiohead. I regret missing that. When I got over there, many of the Radiohead fans were complaining that "that was barely real music. They don't play REAL instruments? What was I even watching?" Radiohead fans as a community are some of the worst people for their alleged intellectuality.

With enough codeine-cough syrup, Lester Bangs would approuve of this concert

that was funny, think I remember a friend playing me a similar spoof he does with Portishead, right?

Those are some bizarre "fans", especially since 2 of Radiohead's albums and normally half their live show is just electronic music.

ah valdes - always good for an unintelligent, supremely douchey comment in a radiohead thread

I saw Radiohead at All Points West and it was awesome. Girl Talk is OK, but to miss both The New Pornographers and Underworld at the main stage is pretty much inexcusable.

I was lucky enough to see Kraftwerk in Toronto in 2004. We were about 2 rows from the front- on Ralf's side! Fantastic show.

Yet, if it was a rap concert we were talking about, and someone made a snarky headline regarding their "sheer blackness", that would be racist.

Ain't no standards like double standards.

From Pitchforkmedia this morning:

"KRAFTWERK OPENING FOR RADIOHEAD

As previously reported, Radiohead will spend a good chunk of March 2009 touring Central and South America.

Over the break, Radiohead revealed that German electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk will join them for the entire trek.

Good for them -- both of those bands could use some nice, healthy tans."

Mr Submitterman, i see what you did there.

ogger 2009-01-05 08:09:45 PM
oooh - witty! i stand humbled before your comedic brillance! good thing you got that one in before teacher told you recess was over.

I am at least brilliant enough to spell "brilliance" correctly. Unlike some people, I did get through some of the other subjects in grade school besides recess.

sounds good.

radiohead owe a debt to those boys
just like they do Can, Floyd, etc.

nice to see them payin it back

Station 2009-01-05 09:58:20 PM
Based on what I saw last time they were in concert, Radiohead instead wants to BE kraftwerk, what with their lack of actual instruments and movement to mostly synth.

rekoil [TotalFark] 2009-01-05 10:31:27 PM
Interesting that in the same report, Kraftwerk is officially down to one founding member...

with ya except for the new pornographers. they blew.

wish there was more time in the day to spend at the do-lab tent. that was cool as shiat, there was some farking talent spinning in there.

and girl talk is lots of fun, no doubt. but not even comparable to groups radiohead or underworld.

DarKrow 2009-01-06 08:58:19 AM
I'd go see Kraftwerk and skip the headliner. I've done it before. I went to a show at the Knitting Factory in NYC exclusively to see the opening band: POLYSICS, a Japanese DEVO-esque rock band. They were opening for several shiatty Ska bands, so I skipped out after hearing a little of the second act.

Damn ska kids didn't know how to react to POLYSICS...

Where was I? Oh, yeah, Kraftwerk and Radiohead. I don't dislike Radiohead, but I don't like them either. I tried to listen to a few songs, and they just left me cold. Kraftwerk, though... THAT is MUSIC!

I somewhat agree with this. My friend was raving about Girl Talk so I downloaded it, man it was horrible.

Granted I have a lot of respect for true turntablists and DJ's who have amazing talent, ie Dj Shadow, but Girl talk is utter trash. There are some turntablisits out there who have some skill that can match any guitarist.
