I try to forget they ever existed, but there's always something there to remind me....

Spandau Ballet were okay when they did edgy dance pop, when New Romantic was still new, and not an abusive epithet. The first two albums and the singles from them - Cut a Long Story Short, Chant #1, Instinction, Musclebound - were interesting, creative, stimulating tracks which set a new sound and a new stage for brit-pop of the early 80s.

But then when their star started to fade, and they discovered the paydirt of soppy pre-digested schmaltz - and released polished turds like True and Gold - they started to suck mightily, and never recovered. Probably made most of their money, and even most of their fans, over those years, but by the time they did Band Aid/Live Aid, it was all over - although their real creativity had died long before.

C'mon, give them credit. The Krays was a good movie. Their music on the other hand....

Too much information, one or two witty lines is all I ask from Farkers, not a friggin novel about Spandau Ballet. Get a hobby or something for christ sake.

I know there's munchies too.

Don't want to read? Here's an idea. Don't. Use the scroll key, genius. Also, eat a bowl of dicks. Then die in a fire. Then eat a bowl of dicks in a fire. Then die in a bowl of dicks.

Besides, this is my hobby.

So, now they're called Spandex Ballet?

Archie Goodwin [TotalFark] 2009-01-05 07:53:34 AM
I believe the correct nomenclature is Spandau Interpretive Dance.

Or maybe "There Is Always Something There to Remind Me" by The Housemartins?

Though I would have put it a bit more succinctly (as in "In the
dictionary under 'sellout' there is a picture of Spandau Ballet"),
spot on description of the arc of the band (screw the ADD crowd).

And to judge from the pic on the page, Tony Hadley looks like he
ate the Kemps.

/Loved the Kemps in THE KRAYS

No love for Sandie Shaw whilst discussing 'There's Always Something There to Remind Me?'

I see the Most Indy of All crowd is currently out in force, too.

Man if this much is true, that would be gold.

Cut And-1 some slack, lest I burden you with my 5-paragraph in-depth dissertation on the early- and mid-career choices made by Toby Huss, written specifically to simultaneously enlighten and annoy a friend of mine. Sometimes, too much information isn't nearly enough.

Why did they put a picture of k.d. lang next to an article about Spandau Ballet?
