(CNN) Interesting Scientists say that that "ZOMG I can't breathe when I'm with you I love you soooo much" feeling CAN last a lifetime. But only in about 10% of the population. The rest of us are doomed to die alone with our cats   (cnn.com) divider line 462

Not Your Friend Anymore 2009-01-04 07:58:43 PM
I need to get a cat.

middleoftheday [TotalFark] 2009-01-04 08:02:02 PM
Let's just keep this between us, guys. Teenage girls and Hallmark don't need to know.

cryinoutloud [TotalFark] 2009-01-04 08:02:58 PM
I think I met that guy.

Unfortunately, he was more fond of breathing.

twillabme [TotalFark] 2009-01-04 08:26:03 PM
That's my life's dream..........the dying with the cats thing. Love is overrated, scary old cat ladies are the future.

Smangler 2009-01-04 08:44:50 PM
Glad I like my cat.

Tr0mBoNe [TotalFark] 2009-01-04 09:43:23 PM
Perhaps "I love you" and "We're staying together for the kids and the mortgage" involve the same chemical reactions.

antidisestablishmentarianism 2009-01-04 09:45:07 PM
Well that sucks. That feeling is the best ever.

Sodium Benzoate 2009-01-04 09:45:18 PM
Cats that we don't truly love and that kinda hate us.

Froman 2009-01-04 09:45:50 PM
I'm allergic to cats. I guess I'm screwed.

Smeggy Smurf 2009-01-04 09:45:51 PM
Sure it can provided the whore doesn't start farking every swinging dick she can find after 8 years before leaving and blowing up to 400+ lbs and wondering why she lives with her folks and nobody wants her anymore.

/it's good to have a younger girlfriend after that nightmare

Me and You 2009-01-04 09:45:54 PM
I am 32, single with no prospects in sight, and live alone with two cats. I am well on my way to become a crazy cat man. At least when I die, my corpse will provide my ever growing feline army with sustenance.

DanRankin 2009-01-04 09:45:56 PM
i farkin hate cats.
and ppl.
i think i'll be fine.

mmagdalene [TotalFark] 2009-01-04 09:48:53 PM
So that leaves the Duggars and who else?

El_Swino 2009-01-04 09:48:55 PM
People suck. My cat does not.

/lord knows, I've tried everything, too.

thenateman 2009-01-04 09:48:56 PM
The less she weighs, the more of her shiat I'll put up with.

flexflint 2009-01-04 09:49:32 PM
This ought to be good; let's see who's single.

I don't even have a cat.

I'm just going to die alone.

Le sigh.

fatassbastard [TotalFark] 2009-01-04 09:51:17 PM
No cats, so it's just the dyin' alone for me. :)

Fakutu 2009-01-04 09:51:54 PM
My parents are part of that ten percentile.
My cat and I find it depressing.

vodka 2009-01-04 09:52:12 PM
I tend to do that in a relationship if I genuinely care about the other person. Unfortunately I haven't found a woman like that so eventually the relationship dies.

I actually prefer the established relationship over the new one. I still have all the passion but everything is more comfortable.

gwendolyyyn 2009-01-04 09:52:14 PM
oh god.
I had to give away my cat today and I just about want to die.

let's talk about something else.

andynz81 2009-01-04 09:53:21 PM
10%? I'm willing to bet many of the 90% aren't trying for more because they just don't believe in that degree of sustained love.

/Hopelessly idealistic about love despite some of my experiences.
//Didn't read the article.

NYZooMan 2009-01-04 09:54:23 PM
Because it's a disease.

dervish16108 2009-01-04 09:54:37 PM
I'm insulted by that headline!

I'm a dog person!

omgwtfbbq69 2009-01-04 09:55:01 PM
would have been interesting to see if:
a. these people have children living at home with them.
b. whether there was any relationship with the recency of them having had sex and their feelings toward their partners.

Or, maybe not...

Sarcastica75 [TotalFark] 2009-01-04 09:55:04 PM
Sarcastica75 laughs her bitter ass off. Sometimes all I need is the air that I breathe and to love you my cat.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

You wanna know about true love? Ask a woman married her high school sweetheart after they outlived their first spouses, when he was 71 and she was 72!!!! Ask a woman who married the third time after outliving the first two men, 35 years and 7 years respectively, and then lived 25 years with the 3rd one and she died at 92. Ask a woman who still writes her college sweetheart and has married three other men, and outlived two of them. These women would be my two grandmothers and me.
Then there were my mother and dad, married 46 years when she died, who couldn't walk into the same room with each other without touching each other and glowed with smiles ALL the days of their married lives.

Scientists? Good Grief. Of COURSE people can stay in love forever!

I don't even have a cat.
I don't even have a plant.
I had a pet dust bunny once, but I accidentally vacuumed him up.

I have a cat that lives at home with my parents, so I only really get to see her once or twice a year tops. I'm not sure what it says about me that I feel worse about that than anything else in my life to date, but I really love my cat.

True Value 2009-01-04 10:00:23 PM
My wife and I just celebrated 25 years of marriage and we still have the same spark from when we met, so I'm getting quite a kick out of these replies.

I'm going to die alone in my van down by the river, so I'm getting a kick out of your replies ...

Hubert Sumlin 2009-01-04 10:01:37 PM
I think my husband and I are in that ten percent. I read the article and thought, "Oh, well, we got past 15 months with the squidgies intact, so we'll have to see what happens after ten years." Then I realized it's been 13.

/but he's a hunk and a half
//so it's easy to feel romantic about him

I think he's coprophobe who's into anorexic chicks. They don't eat so it takes far longer for them to produce the same amount of shiat a fat chick does.

Sounds suspicious to me... how did all these men die?

ciocia [TotalFark] 2009-01-04 10:02:50 PM
Well, it happened for my parents (60 years before dad died), and the lady next door (also 60). But the cat thing can happen anyway, since, unless there is a disaster, one is going to go before the other. But toe-tingling love can mutate into something else that is less passionate, but more invested--shared lives and interests. That's something to look forward to.

//but I just got my cats.

From asking too many questions. Now don't make eye contact and back away slowly.

Yarrgh 2009-01-04 10:03:59 PM
fark love. It's a myth, manufactured to give us some illusion of supernatural feelings, so that we feel like we're not alone, or something greater and beyond our physical frames. All this lovey-dovey shiat is just two people falling into a mutual agreement of self-delusion. That being said, off to youporn!
