Someone's got a little bit of the captain in them.

As the preacher prayed, Debbie's parakeet - named Bird - sat on a woman's shoulder and kept saying, "Pretty bird, pretty bird," and making wolf whistles. A three-legged dog barked. A man nicknamed Boxcar sat on the ground with his bottle of lager and his pygmy goat - named Monkey - curled in his lap. A good friend of Debbie's named Scarlett Schneppat got up to speak. She wore one of Debbie's shirts - a snug blue T-shirt that said "I wish you were beer" - and sobbed.


You can't make this stuff up folks.. ya just can't. At any rate looks like Debbie lived a pretty kickass life and no doubt had many interesting characters as friends..

An Ash Dive in skydiving is the equivalent of a Viking burial. It's a high honor to be on the jump and a higher honor for the deceased whose friends bring them up for one (or two) last skydives. Everyone's thoughts on the person that's being said good bye to. It's a celebration of their life.
