They are to be titled, "Purple," "Rain," and "Without a Major Label."

/each on better than the last
//and better than "People Rain," his last major success
///really love "People Rain"

He really hasn't been as good since he became a Jehovah's Witness.

Prince to release 3 CDs this year, without a "major label"

His remaining tens of fans are almost thrilled but fear to discuss it online for fear he will sue them.

Prince is great, but only in small doses. At best I can listen to most of an album at once.

One time at a bar someone played an entire album on the jukebox and by the 6th or 7th song everyone seemed a little weirded out.

You are right, but i could listen to him play guitar for a bit longer.

Prince is a stupid christer now. fark him.
Way to piss off your listening base, dub sh*t. I doubt that churchgoers like blast "Get Off." (new window)

Not news, he already did this 13 years ago.

I am not a huge Prince fan, but the man is really an amazing musician. Anyone doubting that should find the Paisley Park New Year's Eve show with Miles Davis.

"He's found his way back to the sound of "When Doves Cry.""

Giggity!!! Seriously, damn good song/composition.

Seriously, Prince man is an awesome musician. I've taken to listening to him, not primarily for 'fun' but for appreciation. And even some of his so called 'crap' is good.

Check out some of his live stuff, such as "One Night Alone."

Stay away from "1999 (Rosie & Doug E. In a Deep House)"

You might like his N.S.E.W. -- it's 45 minutes (or so) or some pretty out there instrumental stuff.

And, by all that is holy in guitar land, do check out his insane playing at the 2004 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame awards:
incredible playing (new window)

he is only afforded the luxury of working outside of a label because he has been a major-label artist for so long.

just like Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, etc.

Is he going to give one away free with the daily paper again then sue people for posting it online?

new songs posted at his new website - sadly, they are streaming only. www.lotusflow3r.com

Well, you're forgiven for you hatred of 'christers'; how do you feel about Jews, Muslims and Hindus?

As far a Prince, let him rock.

Too bad JW are a cult.

He is only afforded the luxury of working outside of a label, and expecting to sell any copies/make money, because he has been a major-label star for so long.

To be a bit more factually correct, the only reason that he can still manage to sell out multi night concerts in large venues and still get news for releasing 3 albums a year is because he used to enjoy major label support.

Fugazi and any band that grew out of the 80s DIY punk scene OTOH, never could sell out large venues or had major label support. Not that I dont like Fugazi or Discord or any related stuff, just not a good comparison.
