Well, at least WJ Clinton Esq. is somewhat qualified for the position.

/ Although I'd recommend Ashley Dupré instead.

I would love to see that just for the sake of seeing the wingnuts' heads assplode.

Hm. I wonder what you'd call him, Senator Clinton, or President Clinton? Senator-President Clinton? And then what would you call him once he gives up the senate seat? Weird. Best just to give it to Al Sharpton and be done with it.

Sir Cumference the Flatulent [TotalFark] 2008-12-31 05:26:32 PM
He wouldn't be the first former president to do it. Andrew Johnson returned to the Senate after his term was over. It would be quite fitting in that he was the only other president (besides Clinton) to be impeached.

Alas, it would only be figurative. I'd prefer Mario Cuomo. There have been enough intern scandals in Congress.

Cyberluddite [TotalFark] 2008-12-31 05:33:33 PM
Actually, a better idea would be to let Hillary stay in the Senate and appoint Bill as Secretary of State. He could actually do a pretty damn good job at that. Most of the dirty ferriners love the guy and he could could work well with them--he would do a better job as SofS than he did as President.

EngineerBoy [TotalFark] 2008-12-31 05:35:22 PM
I wonder if this would be the first time Bill filled Hillary's seat?

So is one of the New York Senate seats going to be the "celebrity seat" from now on?

I'm a semi repub, and IMHO, this would be a good thing. He probably won't do it because it is such a PITA compared to what he is doing now, but I think he would do a great job.

/just sayin

She has something in her seat. If it ain't Bill, she needs an operation to remove the stick.

mikemoto [TotalFark] 2008-12-31 05:51:08 PM
Frankly, I'm not sure why he would want it. After being president, being just one of a hundred is not such a great deal. If they want to go the caretaker route, Mario Cuomo is a better option, IMHO.

I never said that he doesn't. I'm sure he would do a fine job as Senator. I just find it odd that the immediate speculation as to who will replace Hillary automatically went to a Kennedy, and now to another Clinton. Especially after Hillary basically chose New York her first time because it's a safe Dem seat she could easily win because of name recognition.

Bill Clinton would be considered effeminate in Ancient Rome.

I mean come on, he was the unquestioned leader of the largest military force on the surface of the Earth, with the ability to fry entire nations at the flick of a finger...

...and he only screwed one frikkin' chubby intern chick?

Come on now... a REAL man would have had orgies with all of the wives and daughters of his Republican rivals captured and brought in naked to serve him peeled grapes.

And hell... the Republicans themselves are all no better than frikkin' eunichs.

JSTACAT:

There is nothing unconstitutional about PBC being appointed and serving as a Senator of New York provided he is a resident of the state (for a period of time determined by the state of New York). President John Adams served as a Congressman from Massachusetts after serving as President.

In the bigger picture, it really doesn't matter if Patterson appoints BC to be Senator. Gov. Patterson was going to name a Democrat to fill a Democrat held seat (no complaints, or gripes), so the numbers in the Senate don't change. It really doesn't matter which Dem is named to fill the seat, on most major issues, the vote will be the same.

Not sure what you are trying to say. I am a Republican, very Conservative if you need to know. I just don't see what the big deal with Bill Clinton being named Senator of New York is; in this environment. Gov. Patterson is going to name a Democrat to that seat, it is the law of New York giving him the power to name HRC's successor.... I just don't see a legitimate reason to get all worked up over "what might happen."

As for Gov. Blogo, well, that is a different story and one that is currently a Dems mess to deal with.
