It says a lot about me or the music industry that this album sounds just as good as - if not better than - most of the new shiat I've bought in the last 10 years.

Lars Ulrich trifecta in play.

i also heard that rob schneider picks up migrant workers at home depot to take them home and choke him.

I actually RTFA, but still felt it necessary to point out that Lars Ulrich is a sold out corporate lapdog who doesn't care about his fanbase. You will never get another dime from me, you schill.

There's just always this sense of weirdness around Guns n Roses. Axl's nuttiness rubs off on anyone around him, I guess.

"An official statement from Gn'R soon followed which reads, "Lars isn't holding anything up with our video. Our message board comments were meant casually, in fun and amongst friends. Unfortunately, someone with Blabbermouth (and subtard) may have taken things a bit out of context and made them into a bit more than they are in reality."

mfaby 2008-12-30 01:55:48 PM
RTFA and apparently it was a 'joke'.

Whatever.

Funny that it certainly seems plausible that that whiney, little,
over-compensating azzhat would be the one holding up the video.

Lars Ulrich: The only human with a visible chip on his shoulder.

Lars Ulrich is an abject disaster!!

Axl vs. Lars=washed-up has-been joke vs. corporate sellout
Death Magntic was better than Chinese Democracy, so I'm gonna pull for Lars here, but I don't really care.

killahgrag [TotalFark] 2008-12-30 02:59:28 PM
If Metallica were to replace Lars with a good metal drummer (who has, incidentally, played with Metallica when Lars was 'injured') like Joey Jourdison, they would probably sound 100x better.

Oh... and get Jim Brewer to sing for them.

Really? DM? Can't say I care much for DM... lame lyrics, the horrible compression issue, and it basically sounds like Metallica finally giving into fan criticism - ok we'll go back and try to sound like our old selves.

It's not bad, it's just a pale imitation. CD actually sounds like there was some progression. Not 14 years worth mind you.

S&M still remains the best thing Metallica have done since the Black album... and Lars is still a greedy SOB, whether the parent article is true or not.

That's kinda funny, when I listened to Chinese Democracy it sounded EXACTLY like the kind of popular pop metal crap that every dumbass in North America has been buying for the last 10 years. Every song was like, oh here's where he rips of Nine Inch Nails, oh here's where he rips off Linkin Park, oh here's where he rips off ten other bands that were popular in the last decade.

Ditto. I listened to Chinese Democracy and thought, "Man this would've sounded good to me when I was 16." (23 now)

Lothiriel0421 2008-12-30 03:34:51 PM
Did any of you guys really expect Chinese Democracy to be Axl's opus? Really? I mean this country hasn't produced any really good hard rock or metal in the past 15 years (with a few possible exceptions)

Good lord thats horrifying...somewhere beneath that god awful weave and all the botox is the man who got to nail Stephanie Seymore on a nightly basis

Google the mastering engineer's story of how it sounds so good - Bob Ludwig, I think. He made three masters - a loud, compressed one, an even louder one, and the quieter, dynamic mix the band ultimately chose. It's awesome.

Someone needs to explain to me why those Metallica "Fire bad" cartoons are supposed to be funny. I'm all for anti-Metallica jokes but see, it's better if they're not incredibly lame. I'm guessing they caught on because it was the days before Youtube and people were desperate for online comedy.

browntimmy: Metallica "Fire bad" cartoons are supposed to be funny

James went up in a blaze of glory during a tour in Canada. That, coupled with the fact that it seems as if he lets Lars do the thinking for the band, led to James having a very low intellect, much like a caveman.

I'm just hoping it will be his 9th symphony.

Or, on a different, but related note, his Symphony of Destruction.

this. The album would've sounded dated even by 1996 when a whole slew of bands were ripping off Ministry and NIN.

I am still under the impression anyone at all impressed with the album just hasn't listened to any new music since Spaghetti Incident.
