The fact that he made a list of the things that he took from the house and called it 'Stanley's Christmas List' makes this article more deserving of the dumbass tag.

He was wearing the daughter's sneakers? If I was that daughter I wouldn't want it known that I had shoes big enough for a grown man to wear.

It wasn't really a family's attic, it was a shared attic space. The bigger deal was him just going in and stealing their shiat. I watched one of those forensic shows once where a guy did the exact same thing, but one day the dude who lived there was in there, so he had to strangle him to death.

receiving stolen property?!?!?!

So, the homeowners stole all the stuff, and by him taking it, he gets that charge? Even if they did steal all that stuff, they didn't give it to him and he didn't buy it.. so shouldn't it just be theft?

/Or maybe some stupidity in law enforcement and/or reporting?

"He was charged with several counts of burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass."

Burglary - 1 count each time he entered the residence and commited another crime.

Criminal Trespass - 1 count each time he entered and didn't commit another crime.

Theft - Each time he stole something. (Usually will be combined into the burglary charges)

Receiving Stolen Property - Accepting that which was on his Christmas List that he gave unto himself.

Guess they are covering all the bases.

It means you kept/used good that were stolen, essentially.

Carter disappeared Dec. 19, and the friends filed a missing person report a few days before Christmas.

Ferrance said she had heard noises but thought they were caused by her three children. She notified police on Christmas Day when cash, a laptop computer and an iPod disappeared, then called police again the next day when she found footprints in her bedroom closet, where the attic trap door is.

Okay, she's a bit slow on the uptake. Now, I understand if you hear strange noises in the attic and don't want to go up there yourself. But that doesn't mean you just ignore it!

To be exact, the guy was from Trumann, Ar and went to school with my little sister. I want to take this opportunity to officially apologize for the really screwed up things coming out of my hometown. All of my family has moved out of town after living there for most of the last century, largely because of the huge foothold that meth has acquired there in the past few years.

And no, I have never nor would I ever live in an attic.
