Mrs. Palin, this is Fair Use Copyright Law. Fair Use Copyright Law, this is Mrs. Palin. I don't think the two of you have met before.

VelcroFez [TotalFark] 2008-12-28 03:52:31 PM
I'm gonna guess, since this McAllister guy has no idea what PETA is talking about, that nobody from Palin's office ever called PETA.

She never met a freedom she couldn't ignore when prudent.

Excellent! Palin's daughter pregnant out of wedlock. Her daughter's future mother-in-law arrested on feloby drug charges. The interviews where she couldn't even parrot back Bush doctrines. The "Wasilla Hillbillies" debacle. The Board of Inquiry in her state finsing her in abuse of power. And now, acting like an adolescent over someone saying nasty things about her.

Kiss of death with the coffin nailed shut. Even the GOP can't ignore all these. She'll be done, if she isn't already.

You'd think. But she has charm, emotional appeal, a "compelling" story, and the power brokers behind the GOP should have an easier time manipulating her than Todd did "manipulating" her bra on prom night. Perfect GOP candidate.

Yeah...this is uncharted territory for me, but I think I'm leaning toward Palin on telling PeTA to STFU.

Oooorrrr... This could be fake. It's PeTA, they've had a record of falsifying events to create publicity stunts. Remember the Michael Vick fiasco, where the head of PeTA called for a boycott of NFL games for Vick's mistreatment of dogs. However, you would have to ask yourselves, why boycott the NFL then, when previously they would sell thousands of pounds of meat at each game. My guess is this is just to generate buzz and donations for PeTA and Sarah Palin is an easy mark.

I'm not so sure. She embarrassed them several times during the campaign by "going rogue" and doing whatever she pleased, refusing to prep, refusing to practice, refusing to keep her muthafukcin' mouth shut when they told her to... in short, ignoring her handlers. She's not as malleable as she should be with her...ahem...credentials, because she truly believes she is on a mission from god. Therefore she answers only to "him" and does what she believes is right. There's no room for that in GOP party politics.

Dad thinks Palin is just wonderful. when confronted with any evidence of her severe lack of qualifications for...well anything really...he simply ignores it. To him, she represents the best, last hope of the Republican party.

Yeah, I don't get it either.

And that's the entirety of what Palin has going for her - the cognitive disconnect of the GOP base. My fundamentalist Catholic boss loves Palin, thinks she's the best thing since ice cream. When she hears anything negative, she blames it on an anti-Republican conspiracy. Unless it comes out of the GOP, then it's an anti-woman conspiracy.

Oy.

The GOP? Or the base? From the backpedaling we've seen since Nov. 4, I'd say the base loves her and the party powers are still pissed because she didn't do as they said. But I could be wrong.

She really seemed like an insurance policy for them. McCain had the name and the POW thing they needed, but he was no Bush years ago and they couldn't risk him going back there now.

Looks more like PETA fabricated this to get some viral coverage.

That's just my humble opinion.

Benevolent Misanthrope [TotalFark] 2008-12-28 05:10:29 PM
Good point. I'm thinking of the RNC - the people that would lend her the support and political capital to garner the nomination. Yes, she'd get alot of votes in the primaries, but she'll need the support of the RNC to get anywhere. And the backroom dealers who get money, gain industry support, make all the millions of deals it takes to get someone elected. In short, the power-brokers.

Quite the paradox.

I didn't read the article because I really could give a rats ass about Palin however...

I don't like PETA or Palin but if PETA is promoting their organization with a game which utilizes a likeness of Sarah Palin, Mrs. Palin probably has a reasonable case against them.

Just try promoting something using the likeness of any movie star, rock band or sports figure and watch how fast their lawyers slap you with a lawsuit.

Bill_Wick's_Friend 2008-12-28 05:14:37 PM
If someone in any official position in Alaska called PETA then that person is an idiot.

PETA squawking about someone anonymously calling their office making idiotic threats is pretty idiotic.

The "cripple fight/slapped you last" e-mail exchange in TFA proves that both parties are, in fact, idiots.

I'd normally be against a system in which idiots are put into a cage to fight it out with each other, but in this case I think I'm willing to make an exception. I bet fifteen quatloos on the newcomer from Alaska!

Are you kidding? The more ignorant, religious-right nutjobs lap that shiat up like a dog does spilled beer. Unfortunately, that's about the "ignorant" portion of the base is the one that the Republican party has chosen to appeal to for the better part of the last decade.

If I found an online game where I could throw snowballs at myself, I'd send all my friends the link and play it for days.

Track down the owner of the game's website. I bet it's owned by the Russians; they're hoping to distract the only watchdog America has on the Russia/US border.

CruJones 2008-12-28 05:37:03 PM
The problem is that Sara Palin didn't call anyone, and didn't threaten her name on a lawsuit, so the headline is a little misleading.

Some may call it wrong.

Careful what you wish for, Caribou Barbie. If you're not allowed to ridicule of political figures, talk radio as you depend on it will be a thing of the past.

WOW, White Trash who shoots animals from helicopters has a problem with an online snowball game?

I'm speechless, really.

Question: What is the difference between a cherub shooting arrows of love and Sarah Palin?

Answer: The cherub shooting arrows of love is a Cupid Stunt.

Palin has become the most efficient idiot test. You know without a shadow of doubt that the person in question is indeed an idiot if they profess their love for Sarah Palin. Bonus points if they claim she has any business in higher office. Now that you know your dealing with someone who is indeed a complete idiot you can act accordingly.

The Rest Are Bait [TotalFark] 2008-12-28 05:39:34 PM
No one can actually be taking a PETA press release as an actual truthful account of what happened and not as a publicity stunt can they? The only time I want to hear about PETA is when I can see some boobies from their naked protests, other than that pass me some venison back straps and the baby seal fillets.
