GLOBAL WARMING

davidphogan [TotalFark] 2008-12-28 02:34:00 PM
It's a good thing, it rinses away some of the stench of failure that Buffalo has hanging over it.

teqman 2008-12-28 02:34:09 PM
Dunno what it is, but the entire East Coast has been transported to England for the past month. I have yet to see the sun for a full day this entire winter. Just rain, rain, rain...

vudukungfu 2008-12-28 02:35:41 PM
We're rocking out 55 MPH winds here noww.
Nothing like driving on ice, and getting hit by a force like that from the side.

Pilot Kosmosa 2008-12-28 02:37:58 PM
The stench is just the yeast smell coming from Al Cohen's Bakery. My brother and I worked there for about a week. The two owners like to pretend they are in the mafia. One of them even sports a curly mullet. Awesome.

DemonEater: Also, that article is in desperate need of an editor.

I was wondering if people in Buffalo really talk that way or if whoever wrote the article was listening to five people talk at the same time.

Claude Ballse 2008-12-28 02:52:00 PM
Well, I understand people in Buffalo having a difficult time driving around in these conditions and what not. They don't drive sticks, they're used to luxury cars, like Cadillacs...

Was weird, the video is word for word what the article is.

/those people do talk that way

How about 60 degrees in Chicago in December, a week before they want to play an outdoor NHL game?

unfarkingbelievable 2008-12-28 03:12:33 PM
was watching the buffalo-patriot game here in NJ; on TV the commentator said something about a moron on the field...anyone know what happened? did some dude streak across the playing field?

Arkanaut 2008-12-28 03:16:17 PM
It's going to be fun next week when the temperature drops below 30 again and all the melted snow freezes.

xsgoddess 2008-12-28 03:20:04 PM
I'm in Erie (about 100 miles east of Buffalo) and this weather has been farking insane. Its like my mom, when she was preggers. Which probably explains a lot about me. :(

/she also got stung by a big ass carpenter bee when I was in utero...
//bee girl hybrid out

i here the snow plows in buffalo are horrid. they get to the end of
road and run out of gas

MiddleAgedWoman 2008-12-28 03:51:02 PM
Warm here in NH too. Last Sunday I was clearing 15 inches of snow of my driveway, today I see the lawn peeking through. And yeah, the roads are soaked, so I'm sure when the temps drop below freezing later it will be way wicked fun.

My dad worked for a TV production company in Buffalo 1970 whose owners actually were in the mafia. One day he gets to the office, the place is padlocked, and FBI guys start questioning him.

If you Buffalonians remember a PSA for 911 service where they pull a guy out of a lake, the lake is Erie and the guy is my dad.

A quick 65 mile drive east of B-lo in the Roc, we're getting sustained 25 mph winds with gusts to 50, and there's about 5% of the snow we had on the ground during X-mas.

/Good times, goooood tiiimes...

"Cool, 60 degrees out! I'll just go out here outside the door and..... AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHhhhhh!!!!" *gurgle* *sputter*

Kris Howard said, "Right now the 2 feet of snow and rain has flooded our backyard to the point that it's unfortunately there's no showers in the Howard home today, because our septic tank is underwater with everything that is now is melted and everything."

Good God! Learn how to construct a sentence, Moran!

Mr. Right 2008-12-28 04:07:30 PM
Here in west Michigan we're suffering from the same thing. 3 feet of snow last week, 60 degrees and torrential rains yesterday. Widespread flooding. This morning, 45 mph sustained winds, one gust up to 68 mph, temps dropped to the 20s. I'd like to feel sorry for Buffalo but at least they don't have to put up with the Lions.

Right now they're jockeying for a better draft pick.

My mother grew up in Buffalo, and I remember a story she told us when she was younger. One winter a storm took out their electricity, and the house was being kept warm between the radiator and the fireplace. It was so warm inside that the food in the refrigerator began to spoil. They took all the food and put it on the step outside to keep it cold.

Lumoclear 2008-12-28 04:10:03 PM
The roads might actually be rid of all the garbage after the floods rush through... but then again, I doubt it.

blkhwk86 2008-12-28 04:15:59 PM
Wow, maybe i should have planned that trip out there. it's warmer in Buffalo than in california right now...well...at least where i am.

/40 miles outside of SF = 57F right now...was a lot colder two days ago.

FlukeBoy [TotalFark] 2008-12-28 04:50:34 PM
I never understood why anyone would choose to live in Buffalo, New York.
That said, the people I've met from there who have escaped and come out west all seem very nice and sensible.
then again, they might be the smart ones and not a good representation of the whole...

You're not kidding, either. Winter driving is enough of a pain without having to worry about your care being PUSHED off the road by a gust of wind.

/Why is the snow melting in Wisconsin in DECEMBER!?

glassa 2008-12-28 06:13:20 PM
Last Tuesday we were dealing with temps of 15 degrees. 2 days later it was 65 degrees. This is Missouri. Then on Saturday, we got tornado warnings, 5 hours later it was below freezing again. Wild weather is what Missouri's all about. And no, it's not global warming scamming. It's just the way things are in Missouri. Wait a few hours & it'll all change.

Hmmm, not a word from the wingnuts who like the cherrypick weather that doesn't support Global Warming. Not a word from Matt Drudge and the Drudge Report, the assignment editor for the Anti-Science Society of America.

I'm in Buffalo getting a kick out of these replies...

Seriously

Though the temp crashed again, so much for one day of spring in the middle of winter.

Fine, fine, I'll give you something.
This is typical Buffalo weather. I've seen snow in the morning and 65 degrees in the evening before, this won't be the first or last time. Ask any Buffalonian.

vodka 2008-12-28 09:55:18 PM
It was something like 75 here today. I love mild winters, seriously cuts down on my heating bills. I like the cold sometimes but I just can't afford it right now.

Emperorsteele 2008-12-28 10:18:59 PM
What happened last time it got really cold then really warm?

Oh right.

All our trees got trashed =(

Or Irv Weinstein?

Bathia_Mapes [TotalFark] 2008-12-28 10:53:17 PM
We've got flood warnings in certai parts of Oregon, especially on the coast. The pre-Christmas snow melted due warming temperatures (mid-50s today), plus the addition of heavy rains are causing some real problems. Smaller streams are flooding & there are areas along the coast that have enough water on the road to cause not only lane closures, but state police standing by in those areas in case someone's vehicle stalls out while driving through the standing water.
